It's mind blowing for me to realise that it is almost exactly 20 years since Porcupine Tree made their first ever live appearance, at a small club called the Nag's Head in High Wycombe, UK on the 4th December 1993. To commemorate the anniversary here is a recording from the archives of the first song played at that first ever show, the Van Der Graaf Generator / Dead Can Dance sampling, David Gilmour meets The Orb fusion of Voyage 34 (years before he did actually collaborate with The Orb!), the birth of PT as a band and a performing entity.  It was recorded straight from the mixing desk so the balance is a bit strange, but actually considering how nervous we must have all been, it's not bad at all.

Just a little sequence to test my newly bought Sub Phatty, with some boring lead on top. Trying to evoke some kind of "Kosmische" feeling. Sequencing from Little Midi Machine on iPad. Space from Guitar Rig's Tape delay and Dynacord VRS-23.

This is one track of a Sequential Circuits Pro One using the internal step sequencer. Reverb courtesy UAD Lexicon. Slate VBC Grey on master buss at 2:1 ratio. This isn't intended to be a faithful or academic recreation of Pink Floyd's song, just a fun synth jam during a few minutes of free time.

Clip of the new amp modeling plugin, Vocal30, available now in the Thermionik 5 suite. Recorded very quickly with Ran Crusher 7 guitar equipped with EMG 707 pickups, which shows how much the amp model is doing here to bring a vintage feel, considering this guitar is almost the opposite of what a 60s British rock guitarist would have played.

Here is a DI clip of my new Dingwall Afterburner 6-string bass, to demonstrate its amazing growl and clarity even down to the low F# of its bottom string. The pickup setting is the bridge and middle coils in series for a fat, punchy tone. I recorded direct through my Audient MiCO preamp with some light compression. No further processing was done to the DI. All parts played with fingers. I've uploaded this as a .wav so you can download and run through your own rig of choice.
The second half is me jamming on Karnivool's "Simple Boy", all credit to them for that.
