Unstable in the stable

Jozef K christens his new label ‘Dreaming Forever’ with his latest EP ‘Loveparade 2096’. Just as it says on the tin, Jozef wormholes us into the future, or more precisely, 2096. Combining celestial synths with clinically precise drum work, the resultant outcome is deep, bold and tasteful.

Kicking off the EP is title track ‘Loveparade 2096’. Pulsating hoover-esque bass surges alongside ethereal breaks and winding synth progressions. Mind bending music. Skudge delivers a restrained, stripped back interpretation with delicately placed melodic snapshots and minimalistic drum-work.

Flipping over to the B side, ‘Astrophel’ takes the listener on a flickering synth journey. Constantly rising and building tension, this one’s set to cause a stir in the clubs. Closing things off, acid legend Tin Man applies his signature rich, ominous sound, leaving us with a warm, bass-driven club track brimming with electrifying 303 energy.

Keep your eyes peeled for a swathe of upcoming releases in the new year from Jozef and others on Dreaming Forever.

Glasgow’s infamous basement dwelling, La Cheetah, make good on their promise to bring you transmissions from the city and it’s surroundings by tapping Burroughs for the 5th outing on the clubs in-house imprint.

Never ones to rush things, the aptly named ’Strung Out’ was first passed to Outer Zone over 4 years ago, alongside ‘NREM’ and the EPs names sake ‘The Whole Damn Drift’. The tracks have seen multiple phases and iterations since, with the process baring 3 emotive tracks that rubber stamp the evidence of Burroughs lifelong dedication to his craft.

This was the opening track from my first live set in my hometown, Johannesburg 🇿🇦, at The Wild Side. I wanted to set the tone for the night, deep, driving, and full of anticipation. I laid a Lazarusman vocal over the intro to bring the energy in slow and build the crowd into the journey ahead.
