"A Year In Suspense", the new work by the Minsk-based producer eng8, reveals an acid-rave sound in an extraordinary incarnation. The beat is missing, the sequences have different sizes, the noises and synthesizers evoke an atmosphere of suspense. It seems that a beat is just about to come, but instead another atmospheric front comes on and puts the listener even deeper to the seething sound abyss. As a result, we have an original and modern release outside the genre bounds, with a dense "inner" groove and semantic overtones about pressing issues.

There are two weeks left until 2022. This music seems to be great for slowing down, taking a deep breath and dissolving into the dance before a new start.

Mix #445 in our series is an exclusive live set from Snuffo. 

Snuffo’s been following his own (often rocky) path for a long time already. He remains true to his
motto: Believe in what you do, no matter how difficult the times are.

Born in 1981, Snuffo made his first steps at making electronic music in the mid 90s.

Today, the Majorca-based German guy is known for being the founder of the acid house duo Snuff
Crew (together with Stefan Gubatz a.k.a. Dirtbox Jams) and as the head honcho of the labels Snuff
Trax and In The Dark Again.

On London‘s Threads Radio, he hosts his own radio show: 'Snuffo in Santanyí' and under the
moniker Cellarkalt, he creates experimental soundscapes and brings his free improvisation shows
live on stage.

Over the years, his productions and co-productions got released by many amazing labels around the
globe, such as Analog Records, Bleeper, BPitch Control, Diffuse Reality, Gigolo Records, I Love
Acid, Killekill, New York Haunted, Rush Hour, Schrödinger's Box, Skylax, Solemne Records,
Weapons of Desire and many more.

In the past 15 years, Snuffo also played at a lot of clubs worldwide. Performing his music live on
stage still is the biggest passion and joy for the masked man.

During the pandemic, he reflected a lot on what being an artist means, and also about what could be
the next step for him as Snuffo. As consequence, he completely changed his approach of producing
and playing live.

Within the past years, the Snuffo sound shifted to his own, fast-paced and raw definition of Techno
and Electro, with that certain oldschool-twist, the 42 years old guy never can deny.

After a long time of producing his tracks with a DAW, Snuffo now records them live and with
hardware. The results are rough and direct, and probably the most honest way of making music.

For his live act, Snuffo switched from Macbook and Ableton to drum machines, synthesizers and
samplers, also because the ideal machines for translating his ideas were finally built.

For 2024 some new Snuffo EPs are already scheduled, as well as new dates for his live act.
Kicking off with two Snuffo remixes for Nerk (from legendary techno group Toktok), coming
out on the great Snork Enterprises in March.

Tonight @tsun_iman comes back to their show with trance superstar @dogheadsurigeri for 2 hours of the unexpected🕺🕺🕺🕺.

Dogheadsurigeri is rising from the smoke and strobes of Poland’s contemporary club music underground, fast becoming known for her cutting-edge techno/trance sound and even faster DJ sets. Raised in the sweat-soaked club spaces of Warsaw and currently based in the epicentre of London’s electronic music scene, Dogheadsurigeri has been busy creating a signature style that fuses the high-speed catharsis of techno with the euphoric, blurred neon vision of trance. Her debut single, ‘Fluid Matter’, dropped in early 2024, catching the ear of front-left ravers and industry tastemakers alike, earning Best Track shout-outs from CRACK and Mixmag for its new-gen approach to peak-time techno.

The artist's ear for what makes a dancefloor work has been honed from years of experience as a club DJ specialising in forward-thinking dance music. She came up as a promoter and co-host of the MESTIÇO club night in Warsaw, sharing line-ups with the likes of TSVI, Aya, Varg, LCY, buttechno, and DJ Fingerblast. Dogheadsurigeri has since received calls from clubs and festivals across Europe like FOLD, Corsica Studios, Unsound, Garage Noord, Fuga, Recyclart, and Tauron Nowa Muzyka Katowice. She’s contributed mixes to Boiler Room, HÖR, NTS, Rinse, Kiosk Radio, Red Light Radio, and Ransome Note. Her mix for Tank magazine, which celebrates y2k trance, was named one of the best of 2023 by CRACK and Mixmag.

Dogheadsurigeri uses her platform to pay it forward to the Polish and wider Eastern European scene. She's been a member of Oramics, an initiative that supports the participation of women, non-binary, and the LGBTQ+ community in electronic music since 2018, representing the project in panel discussions at Unsound and CTM festival. The artist has helped put together Oramics’ Total Solidarity compilation, which has raised over €11,000 for grassroots LGBTQ+ organisations and been streamed more than 170,000 times. She’s also linked up with NTS and Diesel to spotlight cutting-edge producers coming out of Poland.
Born under the Scorpio zodiac sign, Dogheadsurigeri is ruled by impulsiveness and passion, which is reflected in her fierce belief in music, community, and club spaces as a force for good. For her, it’s all or nothing, which means her mission to unite club kids and push forward-thinking electronic music into the future will continue evolving beneath the strobes, where she belongs.
