Born in Vancouver in 1999, sound engineer, drummer and music producer Matthew Coulombe has since settled in Montréal. Under the moniker Nixtrove, Matthew Coulombe overlaps layers upon layers of syncopated beats, delves into polyrhythmic structures, splinters and deconstructs cadences and melodies in order to create electronic music that integrates and blends shades of IDM, Acid, Drum and bass, Breakbeat, Ambient, Dub and Bass music into a uniquely left field sound. Supremely prolific, Nixtrove has self-released nearly 20 albums and EPs in the last four years.

Electronic producer, Yarck, lives in one of Amsterdam’s smallest houses. His music can be described as taking a walk on an extraterrestrial planet with uncharted flora and fauna. Each track is a journey through that landscape where you start in one place but might end up in an entirely different area.

His debut album Weaving Shadows came out during fall 2021.

Node co-runs @gatedrecordings with his childhood friend Jadey. While he resides in Japan and Jadey in the UK they have been putting out as much high quality music as they can find from the best up and coming artists, primarily within the realms of electronic music and often experimenting outside the boundaries of specific genres. 

For this mix Node has assembled some tracks from Gated’s latest compilation ‘Triangle’s Peak’, plus one from the new spacey, techy EP by Taupe, 'Rootless', out now on their Bandcamp. Not to mention one from Dip Shim's new album out Dec 16th and available to pre-order on Juno records at the moment. Sam Bottoni was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the US and has been drawn to UK-inspired sounds since the late ‘90s. He began his DJ career by playing vinyl in small venues and parties in downtown Milwaukee while dabbling in music production. After moving to Chicago in 2000 to study music at DePaul University, DJing became a regular part of weekend life, including supporting international headliners. Living blocks away from Gramaphone Records, crate-digging was a passion. In 2004, he took another step in his music career and moved to Miami, Florida to earn a Masters Degree in Electronic Music Composition from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Putting DJing aside for several years, he dove into generative music synthesis and performance utilizing Max/MSP, CSound, and Reaktor. After moving back to Wisconsin, Sam continued to hone his skills creating digital music. He has since gone back to his roots and first love, DJing in his home state and creating music combining new and classic techniques that often hark back to the golden age of UK breaks and jungle. Sam exploded onto the breaks circuit with two signed releases in 2022 including a debut work with @yukumusic and shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

Myoptik has been making mad music since the 90s. A lifetime of jams, collaborations & live performances inform his refreshing, sometimes obtuse, take on electronic sound. Pingdiscs is Myoptik's label for exciting, happy and outrageous music. Many excellent artists have been part of Pingdiscs over the years, not least through the series of great compilations. INDEx Mix #40 - Hesh

Defrag is extreme sound design and audio rhythmic experimentation of Jeff Dodson, a composer and sound designer living in Los Angeles CA.

Defrag's influences like IDM, dubstep and experimental abstract glitch, filter into his music. With his classical background giving it a more cinematic progression. Orchestrated strings, piano, classic analogue synths and software processing add up to a fusion of analogue warmth, modern classical and raw digital abstraction.

That he chooses instead to make his attention to detail the vehicle for his songs rather than their focus is not only admirable, it’s a definitive comment on his priorities and where they lie. Defrag makes complicated music, but you can completely forget that in the moment and just experience it.

INDEx Mix #41 - Defrag

Foreign is the pseudonym used by Miguel Vázquez under which he plays sets of IDM, avant-techno and electro sounds, combining the smoothness and efficiency of transparent melodies with abstract landscapes and dense atmospheres loaded with complex polyrhythmic structures. Throughout the years Foreign has played in several events of Hard Taste, A.I. Series and in clubs like NAO, Dub Club, Specka, Graffiti, Shagü Club, etc. Has also published podcasts for different record labels and web platforms (Sin Hilo, Gladio Operations, Zanderhythm, Archaic, etc.). In 2022 he created his own label, Mutoscope Records, mostly oriented to IDM sound. Its first release (by Veelargo) was released in November 2023.

This Mix was done with all vinyl except for track 11.
