🤗 REAL TALK
Alright, being serious for a moment... Steve here. I’ve recently worked on a few record campaigns with UK based charity DitchTheLabel, who provide Mental Health support to young people. Most notably Ashley Wallbridge’s ‘Still Alive’ and Gareth Emery’s ‘Saving Light’ - which together have pulled in over 20 million streams to date.

I’ve had a tough ride with my own mental health for several years, which manifested itself as workaholism, generalised anxiety and low self-esteem. These are things which can very easily go unnoticed, be ignored or even written off as ‘normal’ - especially in the music industry.

I created the Backstage Steve project to focus on three important goals:

1) To encourage discussion and support for mental health matters within dance music

2) To continue raising awareness for the fantastic support DitchTheLabel provide (www.ditchthelabel.org)

3) To remind myself to have a bit more fun and take life a little less seriously

Backstage Steve - First ever dj set WASN'T a disaster! (Progressive House Mix)

After the shock debut performance in 2021 which, suprising-to-everyone, turned out not sh*t at all, Blueprint events UK invited BackstageSteve back as their new resident DJ. 

On 7th May 2022, the next chapter unfolded. Recorded live and published today for the first time... this is, BackstageSteve - The Second Sweaty Disco Rave.

Really proud of this one. Having nothing to lose I threw absolutely everything at this set, and what came out is 60 minutes of impossibly good rambunctious nonsense. It shouldn't work, but it does. This set has got Trance. Breakbeat. Rave. Prog House and a little bit of techno yoghurt. It's a melting pot of good-f*cking-vibes and all you need to do is press play.

After the 1st and 2nd BackstageSteve performances at Blueprint UK were voted best set of the night (wtf, how!?) - there had to be a follow-up to the follow-up. 🤷

Naturally, the only thing to do was amp it up even further and play a peak time blinder. In August 2022 I did just that, much to the annoyance of every other DJ as i'd clearly been given a warm-up slot!
