Hey everyone, let me tell you how this track actually happened, because it’s too strange not to explain.

I was in a pitch-black mood a few nights ago, headphones on, Nine Inch Nails on repeat. I laid down this ugly, crawling 70 BPM industrial groove: sub-bass like a dying heartbeat, rusted chains dragging across concrete, some reversed masenqo-like scrapes echoing in the distance. No melody yet, just pure void.

While the loop was running, I started writing the most brutal, hollowed-out lyrics I could: blood dripping into forever, fingerprints frozen on fogged glass, a hole in the chest screaming where a heart used to be. 

All in English first, raw and unfiltered.

Then a random thought hit me:

“What would this even sound like… in Amharic?”

Not because I speak it fluently, but because there’s something about that script, that ancient cadence, that feels like it was carved into stone in a church older than pain itself. I was genuinely curious how much heavier, how much more alien and haunting this could get if the words came from that world.

So I translated the whole thing, line by line, into Ge’ez script (ቀዳዳው – “The Hole”). Read it out loud over the beat in the dark. And it broke me. It sounded like a funeral hymn from a planet that had already ended.

At 4 a.m. I hit record, no doubles, no fixes, just one take while the groove kept crawling like it was trying to dig its own grave.

This isn’t appropriation.

This isn’t a gimmick.

This is me asking a question out loud — “What does total emptiness sound like in a language built for prayer and war?” — and the answer came back louder than I was ready for.

So here it is: “ቀዳዳው” – “The Hole.”
