Swamps of Karasabi

Premiere: Desh "Swamps Of Karasabi" - Kombinat

For several years I suffered from an eternal recurrence of poor sleep so this mix is my Fantasia inspired (the 1940 version, of course :) interpretation of insomnia. 

Awoken by Chernabog summoning his minions
Wraiths whirl and swirl into a black mass of worship.
Fiery harpies play upon his palms
Their flames dance dizzying despair.

Abandoned on Bald Mountain, solitude my only companion.
Sweat-crucified for sacrifice on the inferno’s edge
Noce Oscura! I repeat psalms 
His black eyes see no mercy.

Veering over the horizon hollows out hope.
I can’t avoid peering into the void 
Where demons taunt lost souls.
His menace grins: ‘nothing will save you’. 

In a liminal space between open and shut-eye: creatio ex nihilo!
Nothing is latent, possibility brims 
This is no devil but a prophet
Blessed be Moriah this hallowed ground!

With this revelation, Ave Maria pierces the dark, banishing his retreat
Nighttime fury fuels sunrise glory, spirits evaporate into morning mist.
Hecate’s torches haunt the glow, their amber light soothes my plight 
Releasing me, she whispers: beware of false dawns, ex nihilo nihil fit.

On Monday 3rd January 2022, our dearest and most cherished friend, Karen Wilkins passed away.

While we are overcome with sadness that she is no longer physically with us, we are also overflowing with endless love and immense gratitude for having known her.

She truly was one of a kind, an incredible soul in every possible way, ​and we are so blessed that she was in our lives.

Among so many other things, Karen was an amazing DJ (and resident for London-based Opulence collective), putting her heart and soul, just as she did with everything, into the music she loved so much.

Music bought us together, just as it has so many of others, and so we felt compelled to jump on the decks, something she loved so much to do, to honour her.

In life she taught us so so much, and her passing has reminded us of just how incredibly precious our time on this earth truly is.

We never know what is around the corner and as cliched as it sounds, we must do all that we can to make the most of the time we've been given.

So, throw yourself at the things that light a fire in your soul, that bring your happiness and make you feel alive. Spend time with the people you love. Push through your fears to live wholeheartedly, just as Karen did.

We felt Karen with us throughout this mix, dancing her heart away with the biggest smile on her face, just as she did at many On the 5th Day events, and nights across London, where she made dear friends who all held a special place in her heart.

She was a true inspiration and will certainly live on in our hearts for all time.

This is a recording of my set played on the upstairs floor at the Fox and Badge Day of the Dead party on Fri 3rd November 2023 at the Egg club, London.

I was asked to play an ambient, atmospheric set so I curated something haunting yet euphoric; sprinkled with ritualistic sounds and siren calls; and carried by deep rhythms.

I also wanted to ensure a narrative that could navigate the audience as they dance without and journey within.

Recorded during the early hours of Sunday morning at Garage Noord at the Omen Wapta Weekender, this live set from Formant Value captures the essence of a weekend that transcended the club experience—where sound, space, and shared energy merged into something truly transformative.

Opening in slow motion, the set unfolds with a deep, psychedelic ambient current—echoes, pulses, and dub textures forming a wide sonic horizon. What follows is a steady, organic rise into tribal techno rhythms and hi-tech structures, maintaining a sense of spaciousness even at its most kinetic.

It’s a set that mirrors the architecture of the night itself: meditative, then elevating, then dissolving again. There are no sharp corners—just flow. Time felt suspended. Movement turned internal. And in the foggy warmth of the dancefloor, listeners were gently guided through a collective dreamspace.

CODECAST X - Odd Hills -  Convex Ellipse

Through the velvet hush of space, the starship glides majestically, drawn to the whispering pulse of an uncharted world. Beneath clouds tinted with alien hues, it descends toward jeweled reefs cradled by bioluminescent seas, each curve of the landscape a secret waiting to unfold. Onboard, sensors hum and hearts quicken, yearning to touch the living poetry written in the planet’s untouched ecosystems. It is time to Save Your Atoll.

Save Your Atoll is a project born in 2019 by Italian artist Antonello Meloni based in Sardinia. Deep sound and Techno are his current language that forms the basis of a musical expression rich in ambient and atmospheric elements never forgetting the groove that outline the storytelling. While he initially concentrated mainly on podcasts, of which he launched dozens on well-known channels of the scene, over time he released more and more of his own productions on groundbreaking labels such as The Gods Planet, Oslated or Fur:ther Sessions, where his first LP also saw the light of day in 2023.

Antonello brings a mix that reflects a broad spectrum of his hypnotic musical taste, ranging from tribalistic ethno pieces to organic techno worlds and breaky surprises of severe trippyness. What unites them is the psychedelic flow typical of Save Your Atoll, which leaves no brain cell untouched and no cosmic secret unexplored.

Music Production Session preview - Apatik

The hero's journey has been proposed by mythologists, and especially popularised by Joseph Campbell, as a common narrative across cultures. First, the hero departs their ordinary world and, often reluctantly, follows the call of adventure helped by a mentor. Then, the hero undergoes an initiation as they cross the threshold into an unknown world where they face tasks or trials that climax in the chief ordeal that they must endure to gain some reward. Finally, the hero returns, sometimes reluctantly, back across the threshold to their ordinary world to use the reward for other people's benefit. Depth psychology provides a more spiritual interpretation, focusing on the major internal transformations that the hero experiences. I set out to structure a mix with a narrative to capture this dynamic. Hear the call; journey well.
