In a dark and bleak future, the world was ravaged by famine, and the poor districts were left to fight for every scrap of food by participating in a deadly sport called Speedball. Sola were the star players of their team, known for their lightning-fast reflexes and ruthless tactics. Having recently won the championship, Sola accepted the prize but they couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. The cycle of violence and hunger would continue, and they would have to continue to play the game or starve.

Sola knew that every time they stepped onto the field, they were risking their life, but they also knew that it was the only way to help their family and friends. The government had created Speedball as a means to control the population and to ensure that the rich districts remained in power. It was a cruel game, but it was the only way that the people of the lower districts could get access to food.

Sola's newest Boomslang release is a new 4-track drum and bass EP titled "Speedball", featuring collaborations with the talented vocalists Kit Rice as well as a collaboration with Minor Flux. The EP showcases Sola's unique ability to blend their passion for techstep and dancefloor, creating a high-energy sound that perfectly captures the intensity of their sound. With their signature fast-paced beats and driving basslines, Sola brings a fresh and exciting new sound to the drum and bass scene.

Kit Rice's soulful and powerful vocals add another layer of depth to Sola's already dynamic sound on the track "I've Got You". The EP's title track, "Speedball," is an instant classic, with a combination of Sola and Minor Flux's fierce beats. The simplistic repeating steppy motif is a stark contrast to the mad neurofunk chaos of I've Got You.

The other two tracks, "Oblivion," and "Howler," are equally impressive, with each one showcasing Sola's versatility as a producer and artist. The former is based on one of the UK's best roller coasters, the Oblivion ride at Alton Towers and samples several of the movies that play as people queue to go on as well as having a false drop that replicates the feeling of riding it.

Sola's new EP is a must-listen for any fan of drum and bass and electronic music, and it marks an exciting new chapter in their career.

A self-described ‘messed up rhythmist’, the
dark and dense musical world and frequencies
of Impak is something which many drum & bass
fans will be familiar with. The individual wave
forms he created always get their own time to
talk. His high levels of bass modulation, as well
as his weird digital textures have drawn in a
global audience which will be waiting for this next release with a keen ear. The international DJ/producer, born out of Spain, explores his digital evolution within each one of his tracks. Technology is the key and his conceptual miscegenation is the tool in which he does this. It’s a way in which he’s explored clubs and festivals in over ten different countries, playing in as many as fifty cities around Europe. His residency in Spain’s Industrial Copera gained him international attention and after releasing on a wide range of record labels, he’s had over twenty releases on the market.
All these numbers are dizzying for an artist, even for one who’s been in the game of production since he was seventeen years old. So, it comes as little surprise that he’d come under the radar of C4C, a genre changing imprint which has been running for over two decades. Having already collaborated with one of its head honchos Optiv, he’s about to unleash his ‘Perceptions’ LP on the C4C imprint.
Featuring ten colossal tracks, from the crashing drum work of ‘Global’, right through to the tech-driven madness of ‘Unhappy End’, Impak goes for the jugular. Collaborations such as Impak and Kung’s ‘Anywhere’, Impak, Optiv and CZA’s ‘Neurons’ and Impact and The Clamps ‘Passengers’ bring a host of other mainstay names into the mix. Whilst standalone records ‘Tremor’ and ‘Mastodon’ continue the harmonic highs and slamming breakdowns which Impak has become renowned for. All-in, the ‘Perceptions’ album is a massive catalogue of work. For it to be made welcome in the home of C4C makes total sense. With their commitment to changing the musical landscape and high-arching production, the combination of C4C and Impak music was a match which they knew would send shockwaves throughout the wider scene.

What had once been but a small village had changed, coating itself in the metallic materials of a new age born of the prosperity that was wrought by its forebears, those who had bound demons in stone so many years ago. The elements of fire and brimstone with which such creatures once threatened the village now lay bound themselves, claimed and wielded as tools that had wrought the stairsteps of progress from the ruins of the city’s troubled past. As progress had waxed however, time waned, and few left still remembered the obelisk which lay hidden at the heart of their city, encased within a monument to victory over the realms’ more worldly foes. Within however, those foes of old had slumbered, keeping sharp the memories of their magical imprisonment. Outside, time had passed, and now arrived back to where it had once been. Thus with the waking of the demons is stone, the time of DIVERGENCE did once again begin.

It began subtly, as the influence of the demons seeped out from the ancient obelisk, transforming the visages of the metallic heroes who were their former jailors into subtly more monstrous forms. From the obelisks dark and rotted core seeped a sinister demonic poison, and ichor that worked its way into dark places both familiar and new. With it came the demons, who slithered out of their forgotten prison and found refuge amidst the smoke and flame now welcomed by those who had forbade them long before. As their power and number grew, their essence enveloped the city, immersing it in a sea of acrid darkness that choked living beings and the light of the sun with equal tenacity. Caught within this abyssal miasma, the minds of the city’s inhabitants corroded as their bodies mutated into horrendous forms, a slow, grueling process that spared those affected not a single horror. As day and night ceased to pass within the haze that strangled the city, the demons emerged from their dark places, assuming their de facto rulership over the city which was now carved in their image. Thus it was again that the world of the living was changed, therein by the darkness from which DIVERGENCE came.

EATBRAIN continues their DIVERGENCE compilation series with DIVERGENCE III, bringing together a monstrous roster including a surprise last ever appearance by the legendary FOREIGN BEGGARS produced by KILLBREAK, and label veterans TELEKINESIS, AGRESSOR BUNX, MIZO, THE CLAMPS, DISPHONIA, IHR, L 33, NAIS, COD3X, LIVEON, KUTLO and novel additions DISASZT, SHADOW SECT, SCREAMARTS, CHASER. Concocting a vile sonic solution from the component tracks within, EATBRAIN sends their loyal horde onwards under the banner of DIVERGENCE, once again uniting artists new and old in their devastating audio assault.

We've always had a feeling we were not quite as alone in this world as it might seem at first. We didn't expect our suspicions to be confirmed so soon though. No more hypothetical scenarios, no more What Ifs, this was it. The moment of ARRIVAL had come. 7 billion people watched in awe as this gigantic ship, if you can even call it that, descended unto our humble blue marble. This was not the time for petty squabbles amongst ourselves, this was a historic moment for all of humanity. Would we be able to communicate with them? How do they look like? Were they even coming in peace?
For a moment, everything was so silent you could have heard a pin drop. Do we approach them? Should we wait for them to come out of their ship? Should we - before we could even finish that thought, a pulse of pure energy BASHes into the crowds surrounding the vessel, obliterating them all. Hordes of unspeakably strange creatures rushed out from the spacecraft and fell over the remaining smaller groups near the landing point.
For us, this was the absolute worst case scenario. Military organisations from all over the world banded together in an attempt to stop the invasion, but, alas, it was no use. We could hold the creatures off for a bit, but none of the guns, bombs or other weapons we had developed worked even the tiniest bit against their ships. No matter what we tried, we were simply GOING NOWHERE.
Even though the initial attack didn't wipe us out completely, we had an even bigger problem, as we soon realised. The numerous landing sites were covered in some kind of shimmery dome. Everyone and everything that spent time inside this area began to change from within. Plants took on human form, animals merged together, trees became crystalline. The very basis_ of our existence, our DNA, was being rewritten by this shimmer. Soon it became clear to us: The domes were expanding. We cannot simply sit this one out, ANNIHILATION of life as we knew it is imminent.
