After “Seduction Scale” EP on Kosenprod and “Nergal” on Karnage Records, The Clamps is back with "Wisdom & Beliefs" as the third and the last musical introspection celebrating 10 years of The Clamps. A journey into Drum & Bass meanders, blending weird beats, angry bass, melancholy and storytelling with some mechanical and industrial influences. “Under The Saw” is a sad statement about the pains that anxiety can cause, while “Caspura” is an ode to the Corsica Island.“Terror Machine” will bring you in an exciting mechanical routine and lastly “Wisdom & Beliefs” will tell you a story where reality is interfered by myths.

All tracks written, composed and programmed by Julien Carbou.

The Clamps - Caspura [KOSEN 55]

Warfare Recordings finally presents its return to the Drum and Bass scene, following a long and unanticipated period of silence, that lasted more than 3 years. For our next installment we reveal to You our new concept series, entitled “Sofia Underground EP”. The main idea behind it being to feature both new and already established producers, hailing from our hometown of Sofia, Bulgaria.

In this first edition of the series, we feature a massive 3-track release, produced by some of our inner circle artists - Xylophobe, D-Mental and Faith. The release also serves to commemorate the loss of our friend and brother in arms  Xylophobe, real name Alexander Kovachev, who passed away in a tragic accident on the 7-th of October 2019. Although he remained relatively unknown to the general DnB population during his lifetime, he managed to leave a huge legacy of both finished and unfinished Drum and Bass masterpieces, the majority of which are to be featured on our future releases.

In the epic journey through the depths of Hell, one brave soul stands against the gates of damnation. With sweat drenching every pore and muscles weary from the arduous trek, memories of a lost soul seeking redemption push forward. The massive Tartarian door looms overhead, a daunting sight in the crimson-hued darkness.

As the gate creaks open with an unearthly strength, cries in the wind beckon attention. A deafening roar echoes, heralding the arrival of a monstrous guardian — a three-headed demonic ‘Cerberus’. Its snarling visage charges forth, saliva dripping from gnashing teeth.

Ducking and weaving with god-like agility, the protagonist engages in a deadly dance with the beast. Blades clash and strike, the tension thick as the creature's relentless assault continues. But with each strike, the hero's resolve strengthens, facing the onslaught with courage.

Amidst the chaos, a moment of clarity strikes. The creature, wounded and bloodied, hesitates. Dark mist envelops the scene as the beast seems to be under some unseen control, momentarily halting its aggression.

But the respite is short-lived as the ‘Cerberus’ readies for a final, lethal attack. With nerves of steel, the hero prepares for the impending clash, gripping their weapon tightly as time seems to slow to a crawl.

The battle reaches its climax as the hero charges forward, deftly evading the creature's onslaught. With swift strikes, Achilles tendons are slashed, and vital blows delivered. Debris flies as the struggle intensifies, but the hero's determination never wavers.

As the ‘Cerberus’ weakens, its once-ferocious attacks become feeble. With one final, decisive blow, the beast collapses, its life force draining away. A sense of serenity washes over the hero as they watch the defeated guardian bow before them.

With the ‘Cerberus’ defeated, the gates of Hell lie open before the hero. The burning orange sun rises, illuminating a world of brimstone and fire. With a resolute heart, the hero slams the gates shut behind them, knowing there is no turning back. With the strength of Zeus guiding their path, they march forward into the unknown, hope glimmering in the distance.

We figured it was time for some d&b again, we had a few tracks lying around for a while that we wanted to finish and put out and we had 2 collabs that went well together. We wanted to call it the 'Tryhard EP', cause all the tracks were so full on. Then Nik & Karol (khomatech.com) started on the artwork, and couldnt really come up with anyuthing cool with that name, so we decided 'Imperial' was a better name. The artwork took about a week to make. We are very proud of this EP.

Imperial w/ Phace 
Phace came out to Groningen again, as he tends to do, to do music. We started this one without working on the main groove first, Florian had brought this awesome chord progrssion. We made the intro and progression from it, which is quite different musically from our normal stuff. Then we went a bit theatrical with the music, i guess we kind of suprised ourselves with the intensity of the drop. But it was refreshing to do. And it´s been going down rather well in our sets..

Tryhard 
This is an older track that has had quite a few incarnations. It used to be called ´lomp´, which translates to crude, or blunt. We had it lying around unfinished for a long time, and a certain youtube set rip was getting a lot of love, so we figured we'd finish it. Changed the mix, added a rollout section, etc. One of the inspriations for this track is Bad Company - 'Dogfight'.. such a sick tune.

Dustup w/ The Upbeats 
Our friends The Upbeats came down to Groningen amidst one of their Europe tours and we hung out, got in the studio, found an old unused bass riff, used it in the buildup, recorded all of us going 'HA' and 'ZU', worked on drum fills for a long time, temporarly called the tune 'Pumpers', jumped around in the studio and voila! 'Dust Up' was born.

Containment 
This track has had many faces also. It started as a bit of a Kemal tribute and and an attempt to do as many things with synths as possible, like the main drums for example (FM8). Along the way it became a journey back into the dark spacious sound of early 2000 era D&B.
