»sleepstep« is the first collaboration between raster-noton and dasha rush. the record‘s subtitle »sonar poems for my sleepless friends« describes its underlying concept – »sleepstep« is a trip through electronically alienated microcompositions and sound collages that, interwoven with text passages, aim at creating a dream-like atmosphere.

the stations of this journey are striving for oblivion of time, an immersion, a drifting in universal states – death, life, birth, grief, desire. the titles often appear to be raw sketches, fugitive, surreal short stories that rather want to break open than execute.

the musical arrangement, in this context, can be described as rather subtle and fragile. though electronically manipulated, no production technique is pushing itself to the fore. and though clichés are not dreaded, »sleepstep«, as a result, stays away from being cliché. the sonar poems for her sleepless friends are feminine, subtle and personal reports. a musical dream journey in the form of a classical concept record – an album that also stands in the tradition of ambient music.

dasha rush is already known as a techno dj and producer. here on »sleepstep«, she celebrates her alter ego. the cd version comes with a 32-pages booklet that also shows her photographic interest and includes the aforementioned poems written by her. furthermore there is 2 x 12" vinyl version.

Epica is a sweeping, cinematic journey through sound — a richly layered, emotionally expansive album that fuses ambient electronica, Berlin-school sequencing, and science fiction themes into a single immersive experience.

Crafted by Texas-based composer Keith Richie, Epica builds upon the legacy of his prior work (Ambient Highways, Skylines, For the Willow Wept...) and draws clear inspiration from ambient and electronic greats such as Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Carbon Based Lifeforms, and John Carpenter. But what sets Epica apart is its deeply narrative structure — an album that plays like the score to an epic sci-fi or fantasy film that exists only in the listener’s imagination.

Each track serves as a chapter in a larger story: from the ethereal swell of “Remote Isolation” and the meditative pulse of “Rebirth,” to the childlike wonder of “Tiny Creatures” and the twilight tension of “Dusk.” The album peaks with the soaring title track “Epica,” where layered synths, cinematic drums, and Mimi Page’s haunting vocals conjure visions of interstellar heroism. The closing track, “There Are Other Worlds Than These,” named after Richie’s own publishing label and referencing Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, delivers a powerful finale — triumphant, textured, and emotionally resonant.

Like a great novel, Epica is filled with both wonder and tension, beauty and darkness. It’s music built not just for listening, but for feeling — perfect for dreaming, writing, reading, or escaping into other worlds. Kupala Night — The celebration relates to the summer solstice when nights are the shortest. It is a traditional eastern Slavic a pagan fertility rite.

“In my mind, there have been some shifts and metamorphoses that have turned the spectrum of my music in a more calm and bright side. "Kupala Night" is a meditative ambient album in which I wanted to mix the organic sounds of nature with light electronics. This is a smooth transition from deep night darkness to the clarity of the day.

The Japanese were very inspired in time, especially Susumu Yokota and Takashi Kokubo. Magical music that made a huge impression on me. But most of all I draw inspiration from nature. She teaches peace of mind and the ability to see the beauty in the depths. Contemplating the infinite, one can know the essence of many things and their order in the Universe” —  Sun Halø.

Музыкальный нарратив знакомит слушателя c предысторией и
настоящим на техногенной высокоразвитой планете "Zeon".
Губительные климатические катаклизмы превратили её в
заброшенный мир с прекрасными пустошами, полными секретов,
мистики и опасностей. Последние уцелевшие обитатели планеты
объединились в племена, чтобы выжить. "Cepturians"- одно из
таких племён. Оно сумело частично восстановить природу и
целебную энергию планеты. С наступлением темноты отряд
племенных скаутов совершает разведку на новых территориях
планеты. Пользуясь нейро-цифровой аугментацией предков,
аборигены направляют мощь технологий не на деструктивные
действия, а на усиление контакта с природой, на обострение
собственных чувств для её созерцания и на поиск новейших
механизмов для её анализирования. И всё это — ради спасения
своего дома Зеона. Слушателю предстоит стать свидетелем того,
как во время исследования очередной "тёмной зоны" отряд
сталкивается со странным неведомым явлением.

This track is dedicated to my beloved thinker Murray Bookchin, the inventor of libertarian municipalism who inspired Rojava revolution and brought us the hope we were so much longing for in these dark times.
