Tonik Ensemble is the musical output of Icelander Anton Kaldal Ágústsson. Exploring the vast expanse of the electronic spectrum, his soundscapes are a mix of electronics and more organic live instruments. It is a strong signature sound of contrasts: rich and stripped-bare, minimalist but intricate, finely crafted and yet very instinctive. Together with an ever-evolving cast of talented collaborators, the output is deep, atmospheric yet soulful pseudo-techno. 

Tonik Ensemble will release the single ‘Until We Meet Again’, which comes as a package with additional remixes by Applescal, Olaf Stuut, and fellow Icelander Snooze Infinity, on November 18th. The vocals featured in the single are by Latvian musician Shipsi. Tonik Ensemble will also appear at this year’ Iceland Airwaves Festival from 5-9th November.

The XX - Reconsider (CRONUS Remix)

For this one I wanted to make something soft and enveloping that puts a sort of heavy relaxed feeling onto the listener, with the clicks and subtle rhythm to carry it along. A gravity well is an area of space that is warped by a large mass, looking something like a well in 2D representations hence the the name, and an area of space where you would feel the inescapable heavy pull of gravity all over your body, which was the feeling I was trying to produce with the track - For the mass I was thinking something a bit heavier than the earth, but not so heavy as to be painful. This one has a video on the way too, following the same concept, that should be ready this week!
