Skeptical will be opening the Exit Records 2015 release schedule on 19th January with a 4 track 12" EP. Believe it or not, this is Skeptical's debut solo release on Exit, with previous contributions consisting of his monster collaboration with Dub Phizix and Strategy, the mighty Marka, as well as individual tracks on the Mosaic series 1 and 2.
 
The EP features the percussive roller and title track 'Imperial', which has been taking dance floors deep into the jungle over the last few months in typical Skeptical fashion. As usual with his tracks this is not laptop music. Sub bass is essential to appreciate the full production qualities and the whole EP demonstrates his power to achieve the utmost with the very minimum.

Returning for our first release of 2015, we proudly to welcome Gamma back to Dispatch for his first Dispatch EP as a solo artist.

Having previously released on the label as part of the Spinline trio, Gamma brought the incredible “If U Go Away” to our Transit 2 compilation album and we knew it was only a matter of time before he would be back for a full release.

Taking us into the New Year, the Zion EP is comprised of five tracks that delve deep into the senses, remaining pensive, yet always hard hitting.

Title track ‘Zion’ sets the scene dramatically, with half time beats shuffling over subterranean low ends. Collaborating with Dispatch favourite Hydro, ‘3 Dayz’ follows on, raising the energy levels with suave overlapping bass grooves.

‘Streetheadz’ comes next, a percussive assault on the dancefloor, with strong support so far. ‘Midnight Heat’ contrasts the elements expertly, with sultry pads and soft vocals met by dark, growling mids and sharp stepping drum work.

‘Empathy Control’ closes the EP with a slice of pure robotic funk, with a refined bassline cutting below jittering mechanic entities. Key support on this release comes from the likes of Toddla T (on BBC Radio 1), Icicle, Kasra, DLR & Safire.

This time following up from April’s earlier intercontinental affair, three of Belgians finest exports bring “Point of No return”, “Reflexions” and “Chronicles” to Dispatches Limited's outlet.

M-zine and Scepticz production rate is nothing short of prolific and this is certainly reflected here in both the creative content and production quality, all three tracks carry their familiar and now signature stripped back sonic sound scapes, truly illustrating that by adding less, more can definitely be achieved! 

Each single element is carefully sculpted and positioned within its own frequency space with the highest level of precision, leaving that all important, perfect measure of room to allow all of the low frequency content to breath and cut through to maximum effect.

“Point of No Return” has understandably been a staple inclusion for most of Skeptical, Doc Scott and Ant TC1's recent sets just to name a few and "Reflexions" was aired by Xtrah on Frictions Radio 1 show guest Mix, a clear testament to the release’s high standard.

One of the UK’s freshest new drum & bass talents drops his debut solo single on Critical, this one is simple mammoth! Emperor has been making waves over the past couple of years moonlighting with various camps but it was the keen ear of label boss Kasra that cottoned on early drawing him deep into the Critical ranks. If this new single is anything to go by, one of the best decisions Critical could have made.
The cinematic intro of ‘Begin’ is beautiful blend of strings, reversed fx and the sultry vocals of Georgia Yates who featured on the Enei album last year. All build to a haunting dropout before the next stage, an absolute nasty tech-stepping future roll-out that’s been getting Fabric in sweat these last few months. Twisted, uplifting and wonderfully emotive, this is another slice of Critical magic.
Next up and we’re treated to the vintage double-bass grooves of ‘She Said’. Another huge epic intro featuring a soaring vocal drifting over ethereal pads features here as hi-end percussion leads into the fattest bassline for a properly funked up dance floor workout. Think Roni Size ‘Brown Paper Bag’ or Peshay’s ‘Miles From Home’ for 2013...bad to the bone!
