Alpha Mound & Tidsrymd "En plats i solen" (release date: June 17)

Alpha Mound & Tidsrymd is a musical collaboration that has been going on since 2019. The first single "Slow-wave Sleep/Dröm i färg" was released in 2020 and now their debut album "A place in the sun" will be released on June 17, 2023. The music moves between post-rock, ambient, kraut and dream pop. It is instrumental music, using vocals without words. With vivid song titles and musical visualization, they take listeners through different imagined scenes. The album is released on streaming services and CD through Stålverk Records.


Alpha Mound

Alpha Mound is Joakim Westlund's solo project. Since his first release in 2012 he has produced many albums and EP:s under this moniker, sometimes through collaborations with other artists. The music is usually ambient with sound design as a central element.


Tidsrymd

Tidsrymd is Johan Ohlsson's project, producing electronic music since 2018. The music moves between kraut, minimalism and ambient. 


Alpha Mound & Tidsrymd "En plats i solen"

The album "En plats i solen" was mostly made by the duo in Joakim's studio in Sandviken. Later on guest musicians have been brought in to build the large soundscape that makes up the record. The album features Sofia Costa Nordvall (vocals), Karolina Dahl (vocals), Peter Fredriksson (trombone), Martin Hällgren (drums) and Ida Norrman (vocals).


About some of the tracks:

Godmorgon framtid was the first single from the album, which came with a remix by Slim Vic. It is inspired by an old coffee table book from 1984, with the same name, in which Bengt-Arne Vedin and Bengt Preston painted titillating visions of the future and predicted such things as "electronic express letters" and robotic lawnmowers. It is an energetic, hopeful and uplifting song.

Dagsverk is a work song with a swagger, post rock guitars and humming sing-along chorus, kind of a spiritual for the 2020s. 

Vid tystnadens rand takes us to atmospheric ambient with quietly humming vocals (a bit like Enya). Alpha Mound plays a bowed guitar, which adds a kind of quiet drama to the song.

Östersjön paints a dystopian dark ambience to soft, jazzily stroked drums. We see the song as a bittersweet musical depiction of a rather ruined place, where beauty and tragedy sings side by side.

En plats på solen is a brutal song that contrasts the uplifting title track. But instead of beaches and leisure, we imagine solar storms and extreme heat. The composition is inspired by the title track of the 1984 Dune film and Edvard Grieg's "The Death of Asa" from the Peer Gynt suite, but filtered through the usual punk/indie racket.
