Review: 

Stand up wherever you are, because this is a very magical moment. Sports Records drops its hottest 12” yet. It's lights out and away we go! 

Starting from P1, Liquid Earth gets a great start off the line with ‘Spooky Snorkel’. A banging spaced out breaks and retro house track with scratches that build and release tension, dropping into heart opening leads. Daisy Boy makes his debut in P2 with a new power unit and a breakbeat techno anthem, ‘The Feeling Of Doing It Again’. A relentless genre bending inside line that builds and builds leaving you in a trance. Second row P3 is by smooth operator, Nachtbraker. 'Marcus Howl' stays cool on a hot track with a super moody number full of acid howls that bring the dance floor back down to earth. Huerta closes out the grid in P4 with his hypnotic ‘Seekers’. Don't sleep on P4, even though it is a dubby dream.

After well over a year since our last track, we are back with the third instalment of our Top Shelf Series and this one stinks of summer, thanks to the man Matias, aka 'pèz canaris'.

We can't quite remember how we found ourselves on Matias's Soundcloud, perhaps through divine intervention, cos this lads got that musty magic!

Hailing from South America, he’s part of the Chilean based collective, @ocultocl who have been on putting on gatherings and parties for a couple of years now.

After the festival and party hiatus caused by Covid, we’re sure you’re as eager as we are to enjoy our first proper summer back at it and giving it the full throttle. So with that said, tuck into this one and get yourself up for the summer!

Following the success of their “Deeply Floored” EP earlier this year, DJ Pipe and Global North are BACK to bring you “The Night-Time Economy” EP.

The by-product of a spontaneous spaghetti-fuelled Tuesday evening up in the Sky Lounge, “Puttanesca” sees Pipe teaming up with old mates Hartman and Fonte for a swingin’ house romp guaranteed to set pulses racing [chilli emoji]. On the A2, “Mobile Craft” fastens uninhibited bass-pressure to nimble percussion and a litany of twisted vocal snippets - speeding across the surface of your eardrums at turbo-charged velocities.

Ushering us further into the Night-Time, B1 “Escuela De La Vida” is a seductive after-hours groover truly brought to life by the sultry vocal stylings of Barcelona’s finest, Andrea. The blissful “Horizon” closes things out - its buoyant bassline striding onwards against a backdrop of dubbed-out stabs, conjuring up hazy, half-remembered visions of Ibiza villa acid trips and eight-hour Hoppetosse closing sets.

Sex Tapes From Mars second reissue drop comes through more contemporary, tighter, and cleaner but not lacking the grit of its predecessor. 

The baseline alone on Electromenager’s ‘Sunny Side’ on the right dance floor, on the right sound system, it’s enough to end any rave. That’s meant in the best way possible, how do you follow a track with such precision yet drunken mania all at the same time. The synths echo Hitchcock’s scariest movie shot in the 60s, while the drums make you more than aware while simultaneously deranged on this outer planet destination this new label takes you to. 

Staple selector and producer Youandewan takes it to even further afield galaxies on the flip. Tribal drums and morphing samples, conjure free party energy, with the top end in the sky and the low end firmly rooted in expertly crafted club-ready transgression. 

The last remix by Huerta comes earnest and precise. Less low-swung and more f**k off. The baseline is simple but absolute. This is squishy, mushy, dirty dance music. 

One for the books, collection - this is one for the heads.
