Chapter 1 (of 20) of "Against the Rest of the World", written by SilentAuror.

This is a fic that I thought about recording years ago, but had procrastinated because there are a lot of different languages in it, which is something I struggle with.  It was written after Season 2, Post-Reichenbach Falls, before Season 3 aired.  I’ve seen it listed on some ‘top 10’ Sherlock fic’s, and the author, SilentAuror, has previously said this is one of the stories she is most proud of.  It’s really a spy/action story, with drama, angst, love and choices.  And one of the best reveals that Sherlock is alive that I’ve read.

Everyone believes Sherlock died in the fall, but Sherlock is abroad, and has been captured.  We join the story there.

This is chapter 1 of a podfic for “Professional Boundaries”, a story in the Killing Eve fandom, written by yotoob, set after the events of Season 1.

First off, to my usual listeners, I have not abandoned the Sherlock fandom – I’m just waiting for permission to record the story I want to record next there.

In the meantime, to amuse myself, and after seeing so many recommendations for “Killing Eve”, I binged watched that.  There are eight episodes in Season 1 (the only season out at the time of writing this), and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Then I went to AO3 to see if there was fan fiction for it yet.  And, of course, there was!  159, at the time I checked.  I sorted on kudos, and decided to read the highest rated story, where, if you know me, if I like the story, my brain immediately tell me that I need to record it.  I loved the authenticity of the voices, the humor, the short, snappy chapters, and the story arc worked for me.  So I promptly sent off a request to yotoob, the author, who graciously agreed to let me create a podfic for it.

Now, anybody who has listened to me before, knows I suck at accents.  So, many apologies.  On the upside, one of the main characters is American, so hey, that’s easy.  The other, is harder.  It’s largely a Russian accent, but the character herself knows multiple languages and can do different accents.  I’m trying, and I will continue to try and get better as I progress recording this story, but I understand that it will likely make some people cringe.  Please be kind.

Professional Boundaries - Ch 01

I am exceedingly pleased to announce my new project:  “The Grating Roar”, written by Engazed.

It is an AU (alternate universe) that is more AU than anything I’ve ever done.  It is also a *fascinating* story with rich character growth.  I also enjoy that the more typically secondary characters also have interesting story arcs and growth.  

As you can tell from the AO3 tags on the fic, it is not slash.  It is, however, a story of profound love.  There are very dark moments, mature themes, but also tender and triumphant notes.  I’ve not practically hyperventilated while reading a chapter before (note:  not recording, just reading it as the author posted).  Every time a chapter was posted, I had to drop everything until it was read.  

I’m going to try something different this time.  Chapters will release once a week, on the weekend.  This is a substantial story, and each chapter has a lot of meat in it.  Releasing on a regular schedule hopefully will allow time for people to listen to it before the next chapter is released, without there being too long between them.  If you decide to wait until the podfic is complete, just know that it will be Quite Long, and would possibly be intimidating to listen to at that point.  Consider it more a radio serial that you tune into once a week and it’ll be easier to deal with the length.

If you can deal with dark themes, with the reassurance that much of the worst is in the past (though we do hear about it in flashbacks), come along with me on an incredible ride.
