The label starts the year off right by inducting Ōtautahi’s rising bass menace Bahns who packs the label’s fastest and most club-ready release to date. For his debut CU release, Bahns aimed to combine jungle, techno bass and more with his love for Southern US Hip-Hop and the hectic 2-beat loops of hardgroove, while showcasing his uniquely clinical yet gritty production. The result was 4 absolutely ridiculous 160bpm techno tracks, rife with Ōtautahi flavour.

”Club Unique start their year right by inducting Ōtautahi’s rising bass menace Bahns who packs the label’s fastest and most club-ready release to date. Following his breakout EP release ‘Brink’, Bahns has refined a sharp and militant sound inspired by the sound palette of 90s Jungle and the relentless driving energy of techno, all filtered through the lens of Aoteroa’s thriving underground bass music culture. For his debut CU release, Bahns aimed to combine these influences with his love for Southern US Hip-Hop and the hectic 2-beat loops of hardgroove, while showcasing his uniquely clinical yet gritty production. The result was 4 absolutely ridiculous 160bpm techno tracks, rife with Ōtautahi flavour - OT.IN.THE.03.

The phrase “FOOTMAHI” was first brought to light by BFC founding member MUSHMANE of Tainui.

The story goes that the BFC were huddled up drinking a communal slab of 8% Cody’s on a bitterly cold Ōtautahi winters afternoon watching a young in-form Shaun Johnson absolutely tear the Sydney Roosters defence to shreds with his electric “footwork” - when Mushmane screamed out “LOOK AT THE FOOTMAHI” changing the course of BFC history forever all in the birthplace of The Big Fresh Collective; The Parage on 40A Richill Street, Belfast, Ōtautahi.
