She's been on our radar for almost a year now, determined to stay anonymous in this world, she's got an amazing project running on soundcloud called 'the house witchtapes' where she has over 10 thousand true listeners.

In these mixtapes she features guestmixes from witches and magicians all over the globe with angelic vocals, hypnotizing soundscapes and magical downtempo beats which will take you on a deep and relaxing journey.

For this guestmix, which she carefully prepared over the last months, she carved an emotional and relaxing experimental story with an intimate touch.

The multi-talented artist Hekske grew up on a little farm in a forgotten hamlet in the North of Belgium at spitting distance from the Dutch border.  At age 18, she left the farm and went to study in Leuven, after which she lived in South-Asia for several years before returning to Belgium and settling down in a small village near the sleepy town of Ninove in East-Flanders, where she quietly spends lots of time in her garden in the company of her rabbit.

After discovering electronic music during the summer of 2016, she decided to make a little fun mix with Audacity in January 2017 and casually posted it on Soundcloud, thinking it would get no more than 20 plays.  The tape got way more success than expected and was a few months later renamed Witchtape #1, at the moment when Hekske converted her Soundcloud page into a fairy tale-like channel with the name ‘The House Witchtapes’.  Since then, she has invited close to 100 guest witches and wizards into her unique mystic magic world, while writing a witchy little fairy-tale for each episode. 

And in parallel, Hekske rapidly developed her musical and storytelling skills and in the course of the last 4 years she has made podcasts for over 20 top-tier channels like Deep Stories,  Baikal Nomads, Sunset Grooves and Elektro Uwe. But strangely she has so far never made a tape for a Belgian channel.  So buckle up and brace yourself for the long overdue Belgian debut of the ‘Bibi Blocksberg of the downtempo scene’

We understand a set as a journey into the unknown. To enjoy this journey you need time, that is why we came to the conclusion of only doing extended sets of at least 3h from now on. This year I will play fewer times, but longer, and if they are all like one of the last sets I played in 2021, we will all enjoy it very much. More than 6 hours, starting at 10:30 AM, after an early morning of Meditation and Yoga in Barbarenas, an eco paradise in southern Mexico. Many things happened this day, you can hear it for yourself. Since we can recognize ourselves as humans, we tell histories. From the ancient times to now, we listen and transmit knowledge with different ways of expression.
Words putted together in the right way, writed down, can became a book, and teach the unknown. Words putted together in a rhythimic way, can became a chant, and please the senses. 
But is not only with words that we can tell a storie.  A story can be told in many ways...
Today who's gonna tell his storie, using the art of blending sounds, is Guaraci. A brazilian producer, also mastermind and co-founder of our netlabel Senso. Bringing the power of the sound journey to help ourselves to see something different. Guaraci has a lot to say, without using words... 
Estimulating our imagination to the true potential between the lines.

Unsere Nr. 242 kommt heute von einer besonderen belgischen Künstlerin und Kuratorin, die für ihren ausgesprochen, guten Musikgeschmack und der Liebe zum Detail bekannt ist.  
Die Rede ist von Hekske, welche der internationalen Downtempo und House Szene ein Begriff ist. Mit ihrer Reihe Hekske ❋ The Magic Witchtapes (https://soundcloud.com/hekske) erreichte sie in einem wahnsinng schnellen Tempo eine unglaublich treue Hörerschaft. Egal ob Künstler oder Tänzer. Jeder war sofort von dieser besonderen, nämlich storytellenden Reihe angetan. Die Texte sind exakt auf den Künstler und deren Musik abgestimmt, verknüpfen dabei immer wieder geschickt die Episoden miteinander. Man merkte von Anfang an, dass ihr an dem Podcastprojekt sehr viel liegt. Und dies bestätigt sie nun schon seit fast 5 Jahren mit anhaltend hoher Qualität. 

Nach drei Jahren des Kuratierens entschied sie sich dann selber hinter ihrem Projekt hervorzutreten, um ihre eigenen Geschichten musikalisch zu erzählen. So auch in unserer neusten Ausgabe…aber dazu später mehr. 

Ihr aufgenommenes Set wartet mit einer gewissen Melancholie und gehörigen Portion an Deepness auf. Nach ihrem gewohnt samtweichen Intro, macht sie recht schnell klar wohin die Reise geht. Nämlich auf den Dancefloor. Die Klänge sind drückend, hypnotisch und mit einer Menge an groovigem Bass angereichert, wie zum Beispiel der fabelhafte Track https://soundcloud.com/katahaifisch/premiere-atric-frida-darko-low-battery-temple-tears-remix. Hin und wieder blinzelt aber auch die Sonne in Form von organischen Elementen, wie Bongotrommeln, durch. Angereichert wird das Ganze fortan mit sphärischen Passagen, die nun auch zum Träumen und Verweilen in dem Gemütszustand vollkommener, innerer Ruhe einladen. Eine spannende Mischung. Diesem beschriebenen Stil bleibt sie fortan bis zum Ende treu und schafft mit ihren zwei letzten Tracks den berühmt, berüchtigten Bogen zu ihrem Intro Track zu schließen. Inklusive einer Live-Aufnahme vom letzten Flug der Mriya. 

Zurück bleibt ein kaum beschreibbares Gefühl von positiver Trauer. Positiv, weil sie mit ihrer Musikauswahl zugleich eine Aufbruchstimmung transportiert, das Schlimme vergessen machen zu wollen. Schließlich sollte jeder von uns eine Mriya im Herzen haben…
Die Zerstörung der letzten Mriya (An-225 Mriya) während des russischen Angriffskrieges vom 24.bis zum 25.02.2022 im Kampf um den Antonov Flughafen, steht so die Vermutung, symbolisch für die Tragödie des Krieges und dem Verlust, den so viele Menschen erlitten haben… Aber auch für den Glauben daran, das Positive und die Zuversicht nicht zu verlieren. Etwas was in der heutigen Zeit, mehr denn je von besonderer Wichtigkeit ist.

Wir danken dir vielmals Hekske für dieses besondere Set. Umwerfend, tiefenergreifend und erfrischend gut. Bitte bleibe deiner Linie treu. Chapeu.

@landhouse & @raddantze couldn´t decide which of their tracks they wanted to play so each of them an hour of music to form this Serafin Sinfonia.
Benjamin Landhäuser & Gino Raddant live in Karlsruhe, Germany and produce music together since 2 years. Even though Landhouse already Djs for about 15 since years and hosts a regular event at Erdbeermund ind Karlruhe. They allready release several EP and will also bring you the next Serafin record! 

The title of this Sinfonia is kind of self explaining. Music brings joy, it brings people together, it makes you dance, therefore music is really magic!

In the year 1542, the Spanish conquistador and explorer Francisco de Orellana, accompanied by some 50 men, set off on an exploration mission in present-day Ecuador, in search of the ‘Land Of Cinnamon’ which was believed to be located somewhere east of the Andean mountains. His team first built a brigantine boat and then went on a mission to explore the uncharted coca river downstream. After arriving there, and after facing a mutiny and strong currents, the party decided to continue downstream, following the Napo River until it joined the Rio Negro (which was named by de Orellana) and finally the Amazon River itself. At one point the river became so wide that the Spaniards already thought they had reached the Open Sea, yet at that point they still needed to complete a couple of thousand kilometers before they would finally reach the Atlantic Ocean, becoming the first people to navigate the Amazon river after an epic and perilous journey which took over half a year. This way, de Orellana and his men were the very first Europeans to see and describe the Amazon river and surrounding forests in its pure, unspoiled state. Given the fact that they were largely outnumbered by the local population, the Spanish did their best to avoid trouble. Yet, they got involved in quite a few skirmishes, the most famous with a tribe of Tapuyas, where the Spanish were surprised to see women fight bravely alongside the men, which was something they had never seen or heard of before. It even made them think they had found the mythical Amazon tribe, which was described by Herodotus and Diodorus in ancient Greek legends. And that’s how the Amazon River eventually got its name…

Witchtape #66 | Guest Wizz : Stelzenläufer

After a short but hectic flight, the little witch touched down in an unfamiliar forest.  A few minutes earlier, an owl – in a state of near-panic – flew to the witch’s forest and had begged her for help.  It turned out many animals of this nearby forest were very sick from a mystery illness and some animals had even died during the last few days.  To make things worse, every day this illness was infecting more and more animals at an increasing rate, making all forest dwellers desperate.  Luckily, an old owl knew there was a young witch in a nearby forest and that’s how she arrived here.  The girl immediately realized it was crucial to separate the healthy from the sick animals and isolate them in a remote corner of the woods.  And she understood this forest was located too close to the human world, which meant it was suffering from all kinds of pollution, including noise pollution, which caused stress to the animals and weakened their immune system.  So the little witch started to sing a sweet song, which cancelled out the noise pollution and brought all animals into a state of blissful hypnosis.  The soothing voice of the witch had an instant effect on the sick animals, and they all started to recover.  And the sweet presence of the girl also had a calming effect on the healthy animals and boosted their immune system, so that they didn’t fall ill.  The little witch also prepared a magic potion of spices and berries, and the vitamin-rich brew boosted their immune system even further.  And on top of that, she ordered all animals to get some sunlight every day and get enough sleep every night.  This made the animals quite a bit stronger.  Yet, this seemed to be a really vicious virus which meant complete rest was needed for full recovery.  The animals even had to continue resting for 5 days after the symptoms had gone, as this was a virus which took a long time to get completely out of their system.  During this time, the little witch continued singing with her sweet voice, accompanied by all the birds and eventually these sounds completely cancelled out all noise pollution and the whole forest seemed to calm down, finally – after over a century of turmoil - becoming once again an oasis of peace and quiet… And after all animals had been cured from the virus a few weeks later, they threw a big party which would last until well past midnight under a beautiful rising moon…

Washington D.C. based Bamba sent us this set with a little note, describing  the reasons for him to create this mix:
There are a lot of people going through difficult times right now, as it has gotten a lot harder to escape the confrontation with all that ugliness and hate lately. Bamba’s way out was to dream through music. His mix sets hope, that better days will come. It is meant as a reminder that we all are still connected through music and hopefully always will be. 

Bamba crossed our path on the very beginning of chameleoncast. He has always been supporting our mission of releasing slow music in fast times and we are happy that Talpa Rec. has a special place in his heart. He also expresses his love for slow music with his beautiful channel called "Downtempo Rituals".
