I am a former Victorian police officer who studied psychology and later,Rehabilitation Counselling. My police, counselling, injury management, senior HRroles and working with asylum seekers have made me develop insights into thepsychology and social interactions of individuals in trying conditions.

I have developed various behavioural and leadership programs to help people deal various issues from PTSD to bullying and harassment. I am a keynote speaker on Suicide Prevention and Diversity and runs programs on mental health and
wellbeing for corporate organisations and sporting organisations for teens. I am the author of a book called Lighting the Blue Flame. The book is written as a story of a teen who commits suicide because of being bullied, but wants his death to at least have an impact to change things so it doesn’t happen to others. So he
decides to send those he believes are responsible for him being bullied, those who watched and laughed and the school for not doing enough. Ultimately the school gets me involved as a character in the book to help them and the students deal with the suicide, but also look at how they can prevent it from happening again. I also
help the mother deal with her grieving process.

The book has a lot of QR codes throughout for more information and also just random things teenagers would send each other on social media, so it is a little more interactive than other books. It also has its own soundtrack as I wanted to add that extra layer of depth to the experience as music can emphasise how people feel and
experience things.

Marriage to a narcissistic partner almost always includes some form of abuse. Emotional abuse, psychological abuse, financial abuse, physical or even sexual abuse often occur. Because of this, when it comes to getting a divorce from a narcissistic partner, abuse is generally heightened as the relationship turns into a “fight to the death” kind of battle. If you think you were walking on eggshells around a narcissist during the marriage, you will find running away from them on eggshells is even more challenging. Statistically, more men than women have NPD or narcissistic personality disorder, by a two to one ratio. Also, almost 70% of divorces are initiated by women across North America. But there are women narcissistic partners who are equally abusive in their marriages, and also in the divorce process.

Tonight's Guest Is Rachel Meyrick,

She is a UK based film editor and director.  She began editing commercials in London in the early 90’s.  After leaving commercials she began as a freelancer working on documentaries and short films.  She cut her first feature film in 2000.  Since then she has worked with many directors and created many short films herself.

In recent times Rachel worked with director Jason Barker on his debut documentary feature A Deal with the Universe, about his journey to become pregnant.  Most recently she is completing a documentary feature film: Sweepstakes Hero with director Clair Titley looking at a 1998 Japanese TV show that challenges a man to live on competition prizes alone in 1998 for worldwide release in 2022.

What doesn’t kill me is her first feature as director and is about domestic violence and child custody in the US.  It began in 2011 as a short about Charlotta, an amazing DV survivor in Oklahoma but the story soon spiraled when Rachel found out that mothers fleeing domestic violence were losing their children to abusive fathers who sought custody.  What followed was 6 years of journeys to and from to the US to find other mothers and experts who had experience of this aspect of family court.  The film did not attract any funding  so Rachel relied on completing all the roles herself and two small crowdfunding campaigns to pay for the practical costs of filming.  Rachel is a single parent and still lives in the UK.

I am Anna, I am learning how to become a Survivor.  I have been involved in HCD (high conflict divorce) for almost 3 years.  During my marriage I had experienced, emotional, psychological, physical, sexual and financial abuse.  After I filed for the divorce the abuse got worse because now the whole corrupted system is enabling my abuser.

My lawyer hired a GAL (guardian ad litem) who is her best friend.  She has been acting hatefully and biased towards me and my daughter- nobody cares. There have been multiple violations of the Parental Plan, again nobody cares.

Financial blockade – forced me to leave our office and he took over my patient.  He has been lying on financial papers and the subpoena has not been answered. I have had threats to my life, so we started exchanging our child at the police station.

“Abusers have no boundaries, there is endless gaslighting, chaos and coercive control.  To them drama is the norm they are raised with multigenerational abuse.  How do we get this to end? When the system enables the abusers and fails to protect the victims!

I am 38-year-old women with a 6-year-old daughter. My nightmare started ten years ago in February of 2012.  I was in a relationship for a year, with a man, that end roughly after a year of dating.  Only about 3 months after ending that relationship, he continued to pursue me and tell me he was a changed man. He promised me he would give me the world; we would get married and have children. Our relationship was a normal relationship, with the occasionally arguments, until close to another year later. In the end of 2014, I became pregnant and married within a 4-month period and that is when the tides really took a turn.  He began drinking everyday while I was pregnant, claiming he would stop once his daughter was born. But he only ended up showing up to my unexpected c-section delivery wasted.  After weeks, that turned to months, and then years he finally almost drank himself to death and I had to drive him to the emergency room at 245am, while my mother rushed over to watch our 2 1/2-year-old daughter.  Through all the alcoholic behavior it was always my fault he was the way he was. I work full time and solely took care of our daughter because he was always drunk. I did at one point believe the lies and verbal abusive things he told me.  But as I forced him to check himself into rehab for 3 months, I was so verbally abused and beaten down I was guilted to stay in the toxic marriage and horrible situation for my daughter from HIS OWN PARENTS. I thought maybe I should stay for the sake of our daughter, but I was wrong. After his release from rehab, he focused on himself, and by that, I mean abandon his family after 5 months, to have an affair with another women. After I confronted him regarding the affair, he claimed it was over. We went to months of marriage counseling.  I knew then I wasn't going to stay in the marriage. I filed for divorce in November of 2019 and kick him out. I have been fighting for my justice, well-being, and safety ever since. The Orange County court system has no regards for women and children's safety. I was verbal attacked and threated, feared for my safety, and tried to get an injunction to protect myself. When I filed for the injunction, I made it very clear how fearful I was for myself in the martial home only to be denied.  But one week later, I was assaulted in my own home. Verbally and physically assaulted this time.  Finally, the courts recognized that he was a dangerous man AFTER I was harmed. And the bruised he left on me didn't go as deep as the fear of looking over my shoulder wondering if I was being followed or if he would come back to finish the job. I had peace for about 5 months until we had to go to court for time sharing of our 5-year-old daughter who has been with me since the day she was born.
