We're glad to have the deconstructed-sound operator @bajrambili today ! He's about to release a new record, "Detuning Euphoria" on @le-turc-mecanique this Friday (19.03) and in his podcast, he showcases everything we're hoping for. Tune in, loudly.

PC: Comment tu abordes un mix, et en particulier celui-ci ? Instinctif et spontané, ou au contraire très préparé ? 

BB: Je suis du genre à pas mal réfléchir et à préparer. Dans cet exercice aussi, la narration est importante pour moi. Sur ce mix, il y a un côté un peu radio show dans l’approche. Et j’y fais un clin d’oeil à ma dernière date « en public ». Avec tout ça, c’était… fin février 2020 déjà, à Dehors Brut. Je ressors notamment un enchainement qui avait été un moment assez dingue là-bas. Ça manque, ces sensations…

PC: IDM, techno, bass, clins d’oeil trance et rave, on trouve de tout dans ta musique ; condenser toutes ces inspirations en quelques titres, un exercice schizophrénique ? 

BB: Il y a un côté schizophrène dans ma musique, c’est sûr. Par le passé je me suis souvent demandé si ce n’était pas un problème, si on ne risquait pas de s’y perdre. Et en fait, je crois que je m’en fous complètement ! Néanmoins, je ressens un changement avec cet album. Dans cette volonté de déconstruction des sonorités électroniques/club actuelles, mélangée au piano qui fait peu à peu son retour, j’ai senti que j’avais mis le doigt sur quelque chose. Le terme « Detuning Euphoria » l’illustre assez bien, d’ailleurs. Et ce « quelque chose », je le creuse déjà pour la suite.

Need Meditation

Over the past few months, Bajram Bili has been a revelation at Lumière Noire. On the label's compilation From Above, the French producer drew praise from listeners, DJs and critics alike with the eight housey, cerebral minutes of his contribution, Restart.

Bajram Bili is far from being a newcomer: Adrien Gachet has been making music under the exotic moniker for several years, combining krautrock and IDM influences into a rather convoluted genre.

On his previous album, 2017’s Remembered Waves, he had opted for a metamorphosis, bringing a new sense of freedom to club music, and this debut Lumière Noire EP is bound to elicit further interest in the artist.

Stretching over nine minutes, the playful No Fugue is complemented by a vocal track that seems to encourage the listener to visit the euphoric spaces in between.

The Dantean, techno-accented Fluttering maintains this unsettling pace and amplifies, building up anticipation by bouncing from hot to cold and culminating in an epic journey. 

The beatless Mother presents a complete change of scenery, with Gachet offering up a contemplative composition haunted by tinges of Vangelis and Carpenter.

With its acid accents, red-hot closing track Divided Flash completes the EP's musical register, closing the ambitious four-track arc and leaving the listener hoping for more – and soon.

A true mine for textures and melodies, Detuning Euphoria feels like a blinding mirage. The music conjugates cinematic composition and borrowings of the 2020’s club music, where laser synths and skeletal beats melt one another in bare and frontal feelings. It’s a total work, an exhilarating and untamed piece opening a new chapter in a maniac and turbulent discography.
