This track was created during "Nachtkultur / Нічна культура", a German-Ukrainian electronic music residency at the end of 2020. The residency initiated by Cashmere Radio (Berlin) and Visual Culture Research Center (Kyiv) invited 12 artists, 6 from each country with the aim of fostering intercultural dialogue between the two locations. 

International meetings in non-virtual reality became impossible due to the COVID-19 measures, so the 11-track complation became an imaginary place of encounter.

Cashmere Radio is an experimental community radio station based in Berlin-Lichtenberg. The ambition of the station is to preserve and further radio and broadcasting practices by playing with the plasticity and malleability of the medium.

Visual Culture Research Center (VCRC, Kyiv) is an independent initiative, which is engaged in publishing and artistic activities, scientific research, organization of public lectures, discussions, and conferences. VCRC is an organizer of Kyiv Biennial since 2015.

The project was implemented within the "MEET UP! German-Ukrainian Youth Encounters" programme with support from the Foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility and Future" (EVZ). Enter the ultraverse. The ultraverse is the dimension that you can access when you really want to. A shared universe that provides a cornucopia of delights. Shaytoon is proud to present a collection of music gathered from Iranian artists from all corners of the ultraverse. 

Aria Rostami kicks off the compilation with "Birth in the Garden Triptych", meshing cinematic undertones with a sense of urgency with beautiful and mysterious pads drenching the listener in allure. Unique and enigmatic duo Saint Abdullah provide a earth-shattering track with "Lustre Ware",  a freaky number falling somewhere between 90s east coast hip-hop and muslimgauze (except actually produced by middle easterns). Voiski takes us on a futurist technoid journey, drexciyan-esque elements and ethereal pads make you forget all your problems and then ricochet back into pure hypnosis. 

Label boss Sepehr takes the torch with "Diaspora Simulacra", a hyperreal image of his sonic mind ebbing and flowing between psychedelic drum shuffles and primal chants, perfect for a romantic evening with the void. Pupils may dilate after listening. London-via-Iran artist Kasra V takes a 90's styled approach reminscent of Prodigy with "Thousand Year Dream", expertly placing samples that play with each other in a harmonius yet jacking fashion. 

Next up, goddess Paramida serves up a dreamy and timeless slice of champagne house music with "Konbanwa (Ibiza Mix). A tune that you could equally hear as an uplifting soul churner in Panorama bar or taking a stroll through candy cotton fields right at dawn. LA based artist Maral supplies us with "Lorestan Reggae", deftly utilizing Farsi vocals and grungy drum and guitar textures to create an epic punk rock soundscape that sounds like it was recorded right before an apocalypse! 

Iran based artists Milad Ahmadi delivers an enchanting, low slung roller with a high octane edge. Temp Illusion 

Shaytoon is allied with our Afghan family who is currently violently being starved to death due to US imperialism. A portion of proceeds will go to Wellness Worldwide, a volunteer-based NGO providing healthcare & social support to vulnerable populations in Afghanistan.

Mirroring his quintessentially Off-Kilter productions, this mix ruptures twisted audio narratives, shredding them to bare bones and stitching them back together again - it's unpredictably adventurous and charged with raw recoveries.

Scaling the liminal nexus of UK club futurism with tempoless inhibitions and adventurous textures in sound, Piezo explores the kinetic infinites of dance music’s vast permutations. 

Luca Mucci's output as Piezo revels in the hi-def synthetics of sound sculpting, pirouetting through off-kilter frameworks of total dance crud in a remarkable multiplicity of psychedelic variations. 

 Cast from the embers of dubstep’s heyday experienced from his native home of Milan, he temporary relocated to Bristol enjoying an immersive spell in the city’s legendary sound system culture and vibrant alternative music community. Releases on British labels Idle Hands, Swamp81 and Facta & K-Lone's Wisdom Teeth followed, plus a turn for Orson's Version imprint based out of Berlin. 

 Ansia was founded by Piezo in the midst of this, a label acting as his creative appendage for wild dancefloor tools by himself and fellow club deviants characterised by a mischievous attitude and wry humour to both composition and sound design. It is currently 6 releases deep, featuring a mix of various artist compilations and solo turns from Luca himself, including his latest EP ‘Odd Hooks’. 

2020 saw the release of Piezo’s debut album ‘Perdu’, his most substantial work to date, on cult Milanese label Hundebiss run by PAN affiliate STILL, while he also collaborated with artist duo Invernomuto on their BlackMed multimedia project. That same year saw Luca become a participant in the SHAPE roster, a Creative Europe-supported platform for innovative music and audiovisual art. 

 Piezo weighs all of these influences and experiences together with a ferocious appetite for perc-y wrigglers in his celebrated DJ sets and mixes. Applying his limitless ideology to open ended dancefloor narratives, he traverses quite wild bpms and styles with a remarkable flair best exemplified in sets at Terraforma Festival and mixes for Dimensions, Animalia and Crack Magazine. 

 Luca plans another solo EP for later in 2023, plus several remixes and V/A contributions along the way to continue a prolific release schedule.
