My first big record on a well known and influential label. I gave the music to @Josh Wink and it took him one year to release it, which was pretty normal back in the day. 

“Menina Brasileira” came after I watched a wack movie with Penelope Cruz, ate something wrong and had a bad night’s sleep. The next day I went to the studio with the idea to produce a deep house track. Not a cliché deep house track, but to capture a deep house vibe in a non-deep house track. 

Just listen to the vocal on the flip, “Jacuzzi Games,” and you can imagine the scenario.

I first gave to “Seeing Through Shadows” @Ricardo Villalobos. He was the only guy who was able to play crazy stuff. Please keep in mind, that this sound was not big at that time, and Ricardo was really far out. 

We were at the Dance Valley Festival, playing the Circoloco stage. Ricardo came to me during his set and said: “I’m going to play your track! Watch @Richie Hawtin’s face!“ He played the tune, and after first chords I saw Rich go to Ricardo. I didn’t really know him at that time. I just saw Ricardo laughing and pointing at me.

The South African phenomenon Black Coffee has become well known in recent years due to his impeccable blend of house, infused with African culture and vibes. In 2012, ‘Buya’ was released featuring the stunning vocalist Yoshi.  The track went platinum in Africa in 2 months, bringing Black Coffee into the international spotlight. Now, Get Physical has taken the reigns and handed the track over to Loco Dice, M.A.N.D.Y. and Da Cappo for their remix wizardry.  

Loco Dice who has African roots spends his proceeds of the EP for the development of the new website, and the donation campaign for the Kliptown Youth Centre in Soweto, South Africa, a non-profit project that provides hope through tutoring, athletic, music and arts programs.  The returns will go to helping the heroes of the Kliptown Youth Center in Soweto, South Africa, giving kids a chance to create and express themselves whereas they might not have had that chance before. The youth is our future, and right now they need our help and support.
