Low Again is all about those moments of weakness when you’re feeling a bit low and a beer (or whatever your drink of choice is) and a cigarette offer comfort. 

The idea sprung from an old voice memo I found on my phone from 2018 when I just flushed my New Year's resolutions down the toilet by starting to drink and smoke again. It was not so much a disappointment in myself at that moment, but more of a realization that I still was craving these things to get me through those low moments.  It’s about not being too hard on yourself in times of weakness. 

This is one of those songs that I made in a day, on pure intuition. This rarely happens, but once it does it’s always special. I’m very proud of the result. I feel it’s fresh and different, but still sounds like me.

I used this intro for shows in 2016 and 2017 mostly and it's basically a remix of One Day (Vandaag) but combined with a lot of stuff from other tunes as well such as Teach Me.

INTRO AND ONE DAY REMIX 2016

I made this intro for my shows in 2022 and a big part of 2023. The brass loop was sampled from the (amazing) Gallowstreet tune Asterix. I debuted it at printworks in London.

For the final couple of shows of 2023 I used this intro. It's a more laidback and funky approach to an intro and less euphoric and "big".

Kaleidoscope Intro 2023

Praise Break. The moment everybody in the room starts dancing ecstatically to the music. Because they’re grateful, because they’re happy, because they feel free! I’ve always loved watching videos on youtube of these spontaneous outbursts of feel-good energy and decided to make a record trying to channel this exact feeling. It’s up-tempo, it’s raw and most of all: it’s energetic. 

Piano house with elements of gospel and praise, and of course a nice saxophone riff.

Very proud of this one and I hope it will actually make people burst out in vigorous dancing whilst listening!

Bakermat- Praise Break

Infatuation. This one is a bit more experimental, combining indie and jazz with house. The keys are recorded on an old little piano I have in my studio, which gives this track a unique and characteristic sound.

I intentionally kept most of the elements pretty dry (no effects) to create an intimate and warm setting. It’s about love and how empty and long the days are without it. But also about how beautiful it is to long for love.

 Definitely a case of melancholy combined with happiness once again.
