I remixed the first song of his I ever got the chance to master. It's a story about a blues player breaking into hell to get his soul back. He fights off terrible beasts, makes it past grotesque monsters, and finally has a showdown with the devil.

All his music has stories. He rarely told anyone what those stories were; the stories were for him. They were an extension of his medium, a place to channel his creativity and bring something to life.

They were sad stories, love stories, and sometimes just silly, simple stories like trying to pick up a dropped drumstick. He wove them into his music to give it purpose and connect with people. When people listen to his music and feel moved, it's because they hear the story that the song is telling.

I couldn't possibly tell you what they all were, but just knowing that they are there gives a lot of meaning to his craft, even if you don't know what that meaning is.

I had the dubious pleasure of working with him for almost a year. He taught me more in a single hour about sound than any school or course you could pay for. I'll always be grateful to him for that, even if we did have our differences. He told me a little bit about himself and his story. His is not a happy one, and the music that everyone was in awe of came at a heavy cost. But he loved his craft, and you could hear it in every note. He sacrificed everything for that love. I hope he can finally take a break and rest.
