Matthias Vogt’s production journey is unconventional to say the least. His early influences came from church, jazz band and Frankfurt’s underground, so his music is a sonic melting pot. Over his decades-long career, Vogt has released  dozens of albums under various aliases, including Motorcitysoul and [re:jazz], but his eponymous Matthias Vogt project is where his passion for electronic music, club culture and deep listening intertwine.

Most people like to play peak time, some people like to warm up, but I think the most underrated DJ maneuver is the dancefloor switch, when the party gets started in one area and moves to another. It's a very specific chess problem: everybody is 3 drinks deep, the floor will be full in less than 2 songs (if yr gud), but you're still starting to the emptiest dancefloor imaginable getting PTSD from your time on the Bar Mitzvah circuit.

Such was the case when Guy Gerber invited me to play Rumors in Ibiza this past summer. I took the stick and move approach. Stick em with one ambient joint and then move fast. I think I handled it pretty well, but you be the judge.

Best Mix: 1:29:00 - One of my most evil unreleased joints into the most evil Unknown to the Unknown release of all time. Total confusion.

Worst Mix: 59:22 - This one also features one of mine, a Kendrick edit I was having fun playing during the height of the beef. Maybe I'm being hard on myself since I should have known better, but I think the moment you realize two songs are out of key you should urgently fade out the first one. And yet I had to keep riding the mix 🤦🏽‍♂️

Hett is a UK-born, Berlin-based, producer and DJ. Since moving to the German capital almost a decade ago, he has continued to develop a strong connection to house music through the dance floor, though the beginnings of his musical journey are rooted in post-punk and grunge. Hett later transitioned into electronic music during his university years through discovering pioneering IDM/Glitch/Ambient artists like Autechre, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and Burial. 

As a producer, Hett has since released a variety of different styles of music on labels including Nervous Records (US) and Awkwardly Social (DE). When DJing, he finds joy in weaving his musical history together, paying homage to his past and present.

Aussie Mic Newman is true to his Fantastic Man moniker. The music he releases under it is always inventive and colourful stuff that defies easy categorisation. It draws ideas from tribal, acid and abstract sound worlds and marries them to rugged, compelling house and techno grooves. Let’s Play House, Fine Choice and Permanent Vacation all release it and the man himself also co-runs the Superconscious label with his friend Francis Inferno Orchestra. On top of this he also recently explored new age ambient and downtempo as Mind Lotion, so has never been hotter than he is right now. 

His mix for us draws on all this and more: it is a balmy house trip with curious jungle sounds, breezy melodies and retro sounding oddities that speak of an inquisitive musical mind. Quite often managing to sound both soothing and banging at the same time, it is a colourful affair that never stays in one place for too long, and is all the more absorbing because of it.
