I was asked to do a remix for Rednose back in the day but didn't make the cut. DOMU beat me out!!! The original mix simmered and eventually I was asked if I wanted to do a limited pressing with new versions. Came up with the additional fast and slow mix for the 12inch. Over the past 6 years WOLF Music have earned their stripes as stalwart purveyors of refined House and Disco. Now, in the follow up to Medlar and Greymatter’s debut LPs and EPs from the likes of Ishmael, Ossie and Casino Times they ready their 3rd LP from Dutchman Frits Wentink.

Now residing in Amsterdam, Frits has a glowing back catalogue of soulful, Lo Fi club material that’s touched Heist Recordings as well as WOLF in the form of his ‘Mouse’ and ‘Goose’ EPs. With an experimental approach to hardware and instrumentation, his work blooms naturally through jams and improv and in this - his debut LP: ‘Rarely Pure, Never Simple’ we see a development in this experimentation to enlivening effect.

Working with a meld of grubby samples, chunky percussion and the frequent vocal accompaniment of Utrecht based Loes Jongerling, Rarely Pure Never Simple is a journey through Frits’ influences forged into a cohesive pack of grooves and interludes tinged with a certain charming nostalgia.

When The Unbelievable Two appeared on the scene in 2014, their pure underground, analogue boogie and disco sound mirrored what was going on in the vinyl infected bars and small cellar clubs in their hometown of Hamburg/Germany. “The Unbelievable Two” was inspired by the golden age of the genres, played live with skills and insight. Four years later, boogie and disco are all around us. So it is about time that these pioneers release their second album. Honest and authentic, “Power Plant” recalls late 1970s New York Disco and mid 1908s UK Boogie.

The Unbelievable Two still is Mzuzu and Mucka, who lead us through nine new songs of speedy disco, down low boogie and even some smokin’ reggae. Recorded in late 2017 and through the spring of 2018, “Power Plant” tells stories beyond the surface level. “Even though our music is purely instrumental, it doesn’t mean we haven’t got anything to say,” explains Mzuzu, a respected and well-travelled vinyl DJ on the Germany funk/disco scene. “Boogie and disco are a universal language. With the influence of Afro, Latin, Reggae, even European electronic music you do not need a lot of words to tell a story which gets everybody connected. These songs are about our friends, our everyday life, how we life and what we feel.”

With the King of Boogie on vocal duties, "Nine Lives" feels like a blast from the past while zooming head-on into the future at the speed of light. We're particularly happy about this collaboration as the two linked up after a Red Bull Music Academy workshop. Turn this one all the way up – it's special.

New French label Cosmocities moves into it's 2nd release after the eclectic compilation Cosmocities Records Vol 1 (3 x Vinyl) which featured the likes of Leif, Segue, DJ Maboku, Jaime Read, Inner Science & Jitwam. This time we introduce to you a collaboration between Inkswel & Stan Smith.

A meeting of creative minds formed on mutual respect for each others output, Stan ‘Steam’ Smith and Inkswel connect as ‘Active Ingredients’. Inkswel an electronic music futurist gliding the boundaries between Hip Hop, House Music and Modern Beat culture and Stan Smith an MC who honed his skills in the golden era but has always looked forward with past works produced by Daz-I-Kue (Bugz in The Attic) and Soulparlor. The ‘Middle’ is a refreshing perspective, something that came natural, a collection of songs the team did together over a period of 6 months of sending each other vibes back and forth from Adelaide to Atlanta. With outerwordly cover art by the infamous Tokio Aoyama and remixes from broken beat legend Kaidi Tatham and Soul Of Sydney veteran Edseven, the ‘Middle’ encapsulates the forward thinking evolution of the Hip Hop inspired generation.
