A bowl of the juiciest looking fruit sat in the middle of the table, its contents inviting her to take a bite. Marco Passarani's discography stretches back over nearly three decades including long players on well-respected imprints like Peacefrog, Running Back and Offen Music. For his next release, which marks his sixth LP, he heads over to Aus to make his debut with The Wildlife Of The Quieter Ones. Once again flexing his dexterity at moving between genres and styles, the 16 tracks showcase his timeless sound: a cocktail of glimmering electro, techno, house and IDM.

Tusk Wax Thirty Five

It’s always exciting when a DJ rips up the rulebook. Emerging from the Copenhagen underground is Prom Night, real name Shaq. He’s been touted as a bit of an upcoming gem as he blurs the lines between sleazy disco cuts and chuggers, italo house, afro-house and funk and beyond.

Originally from Aarhus he first began DJ’ing at just nine years old and describes his sound as being heavily influenced by 80’s pop culture hence the name. He reflects on his roots and recent embarkment into the world of music production:
 
“A lot of my productions are inspired by/ centered around a fusion of 70’s and 80’s Disco combined with modern and contemporary styles of House music.”

When we invited him to record this mixtape we weren’t entirely sure what we were going to get. What we’ve ended up is a spectacular showcase of Prom Night’s ability as a selector capable of switching quickly between genres and pushing the limitations. This one is a fun filled affair perfect for the weekend…
