Hello Everyone, and welcome to Wednesday! You are in tune to the Il Modo Progcast, join us as we tour planet progressive for those exclusive beats ... and breaks! 

The name may have changed, but the quality and exclusivity that are hallmarks of our Progcast remain the same. In this our 200th episode, spanning over five years, we have secured the services of one of the electronic music scenes brightest and original acts, again! After gracing the decks for this series Second birthday over two years ago, they are back again to lift this newer and better one to higher heights. They need no more introduction, please make some noise for FRAMEWERK! 

Framewerk have been long establishing an eclectic electronic style that defies genres yet maintains a deep distinctive atmosphere throughout all their music. With influences ranging from 70’s prog rock to 80’s electro, the duo both found a home in the UK acid house scene of the late 80’s and later joined together to form the group “Manhattan” during the mid-90’s progressive house era.

These decades of dedicated development and unrelenting passion have kept Darren and Alec continuously at the forefront of the underground electronic music scene. Their work today as “Framewerk” showcases their diverse styles and innate abilities to create and share music that represents the best of the golden eras with a fresh, modern sound all their own.

Using their understanding of quality music to run their well-established imprint Capital Heaven, Framewerk continue to influence the industry with their unique perspective.

The Progcast - Episode 200 - Framewerk (Special Edition)

The first TSOR of ’24 starts the new year deep! If ever a warm musical hug were needed in these colder months, then look no further than the first third of this 70 minute mix. Drawing on the likes of Steve Bug, Ashee, Dovim and, of course, Sasha it’s an opening chapter designed to fire-up the cockles of even the harshest critic. From there, as the set then shifts through the gears, it features the usual roster of marquee names with Solomun, Carlita, Mita Gami, Jonathan Kaspar, Rex The Dog, and Remcord all going ‘one louder’ on the thermostat. 

January also marks our 100th label release, which we fittingly handed over to Sasha Carassi, one of our most-capped artists, who reinterprets his own ‘Ametista’ into a 4/4 bomb. Plus, we welcome the return of Radeckt, who continues his ‘Dope Dance’ momentum with ‘Snake Charmer’, confirming he’s one to watch in ‘24.

Different Ray, an enigmatic artist with a mission to spread joy and euphoria through his music, made his debut in early 2018 and quickly ascended to prominence within the Deep House genre.

In just a few short years, Different Ray released on some of the world's most renowned labels such as Hoomidaas, The Soundgarden, Art Vibes Music, Nie Wieder Schlafen, Dream Culture, Everything Will Be Ok, Loot Recordings, Mirrors and Sound Avenue and a lot more. In 2021 he triumphed in a remix competition for Nils Hoffmann's debut album on the esteemed Get Physical sub-label, Poesie Musik. Given all that, it's no surprise that his tracks earned him numerous Beatport chart-topping positions.

With support from an array of influential artists ranging from Armen Miran to Eelke Kleijn, the future is indeed looking bright for the Tunisian-born artist.

Hyunji-A, or Hyunji Lee, is a Korean-Canadian music producer, DJ, and actress based in Montreal. Classically trained on the piano since the age of 4, she has developed an innate desire and passion for creating music. She gravitates towards crafting emotional and cinematic journeys aimed at evoking a profound experience and personal reflection.

Since her first release in 2020, she’s been featured on labels such as Mango Alley, onedotsixtwo, Tales of Romance, Sounds of Khemit, and more. Her music has gotten constant support from DJs such as Hernan Cattaneo and Eelke Kleijn, and she has had frequent performances at esteemed clubs and festivals such as Stereo, Piknic Electronik, Igloofest, and more.

In 1998 the first of a highly renowned series of colour-coded vinyl singles appeared in record stores: Orange. Green. Blue. A new production duo were born, Circulation, and they delivered a sound uniquely theirs. Check the past releases on labels from Hooj Choons to End Recordings; an amalgamation of deep tech and moody hypnotic house, it’s a sound that doesn't fit into any neat categorisation. 

They continued their chromatically named ways until 2005 when the duo parted. Now, Paul Davis fly the Circulation flag solo, regularly releasing on labels from Bedrock to Selador. As showcased on this Balance Selections mix, his take on dance music is still as cerebral and mood-inflected as it was 20 years ago.
