With a name that directly references Sanskrit's varied definition for words such as space and atmosphere, Portland, Oregon's Akasha System uses ambience to set the tone within his own brand of lo-fi house music. After an acclaimed release on L.A. genre stalwarts 100% Silk, Akasha System is back with his inaugural release on London's Needwant imprint, 'Colour Theory'.

Mechanised hi hats coupled with techno-esque percussive samples are buried throughout the track's reverberated harmonics, adding a hard-edged coldness to the 'Reflector''s composition. Out now!

This new 12" features 4 edits by Moscovian Dj and producer Grisha Nelyubin, also part of the Odopt project, under his new moniker Blind Rape. Using unexpected material, from percussive Brazilian obscurities to lost French 80s tapes, ex-Yugoslavian EBM or early 70s heavy krautrock, Nelyubin delivers 4 powerful dancefloor friendly edits which already show a very personal touch.

Infused with a warm coastal breeze and a hint of new age, the playful Balearic house groove solidifies Mette and Strauss' remix as a late summer hip lubricator. The steel drums of the original have been deemed surplus to requirements, allowing the delay-soaked percussion remaining to inject a bit of extra sleaze – echoing through the arrangement, it's the perfect accompaniment to the full-bodied, rounded bass tones, ascending arpeggios and additional atmospherics that embellish the track throughout.
