Tuccinelli is an enigmatic and reclusive producer from Naples, Italy who may or may not be a big house DJ too. Originally appearing on the highly revered Music For Dreams label, this track has a lovely timeless appeal: it has raw clubby undertones, but still maintains that airy, mellow feel that is so essential to great Balearic music.

This kooky tune was conceived in the smoke-filled uni-jam sessions of these two Irish mateys. Inspired by their youthful view on the world, they marched to the beat of their own drum to make something truly special. 

The result is an earthy mixture of ethereal Celtic flutes bleeding into hazy Middle Eastern melodies, all underlaid with hard and heavy drums. This is the kind of kaleidoscopic mix of sounds heard back in the day at the sunsets of the Cafe Del Mar Ibiza. You can almost see the light on the water, taste the cocktails and feel that magical vibe…

And it might never have come to light if destiny hadn't stepped in, reuniting the boys - a little wiser, even more widely travelled - to recapture the magic together, now, some twenty years later

And the dub… Welcome to the jungle, dark, deep, and vibrant - just waiting to be explored.  

Label head Jim Breese deconstructed this mesmerising tune and fed their heady beats into FX units and delays. He recorded the twisted sounds that came snarling out, and after one long session of expression and experimentation he found sense in the madness and built this gloriously dark and trippy Balearic Dub from the ground up.  

Tribal beats play with percussive bass tones. Wild rhythms grow amongst swelling congas. This is the perfect tune to get lost in.

There are a lot of memories in Sunflower, a lot of good times.

So sit back, close your eyes, and dream...

Few tunes conjure up an atmosphere as perfectly as this one: wallowing in the Spring, getting sloshed!

Rich smouldering vocals float by as Celtic melodies strum on playful guitars. Hawaiian slide notes shine against a dark undercurrent of growling synths. Dreamy lyrics effortlessly walk the line between the dark and comical. 

Nothing else we’ve heard sounds quite like this... it’s musical soul food.

And the dream just got darker in the Dub. Jim Breese has stripped everything back to its absolute heady essentials. The glorious vocals have been burnished and stretched out, the gaps between the words left yawning wide enough to fall into. The groove has slackened even further, it’s opened up, and deepened. There's something almost sinister here... This is music pouring through from another dimension.

The Madrigal have got Spring all fathomed out; lets drink some wine and waste some time – sounds like heaven to us.

Here's a glorious selection of 12 bright and sun-drenched moments destined to be heard daily at the world's coolest beach clubs this summer and inevitably soundtracking a million gorgeous sunsets in Ibiza. 

This edition features exclusives aplenty. There are two album-only tracks; Tommy Awards gets an Ambient remix from Balearic’s Jim Breese. Then The Madrigal blasts off with 'Ride To The Moon,' a completely unique track that’s refreshing to hear.

Three tracks were previously unavailable digitally, including the debut from Nancy Noise, Olefonken's spacey remix of Hubbabubbaklubb, and Steve Cobby's tropical-jazz remix of Penelope Antena's Tradewinds.

Other highlights include Cantoma’s ‘Abando,’ plus an incredible, modern interpretation of the 80's classic Southern Freeez from Paul Murphy.

Balearic are back with their fourth label compilation, Selected by label boss Breese. He brings here a DJ mix for summer, brim-full of beach-ready tunes that truly reflect Ibiza's chilled musical spirit.

If New York’s Roxy nightclub emerged from the colourful blocks of Brazil, there's no doubt these tracks would be the carnival sound clash heard on hard rotation. Brooklyn percussionist Eugene Tambourine, aka The Lemko Unlimited Orchestra, has created new renditions of disco hits, giving them the rhythmic going over they didn’t know they needed. It’s the artist’s tale of NYC clubbing in the 1980’s, infused with a raucous, fiery Latin attitude. A package expertly mixed by Darshan Jesrani.

‘Pathways’ is a mashup, interpolating hooks from Fingers Inc’s ‘A Path’ in clever combinations with Ralph Macdonald’s much sampled ‘The Path.’

You’ll no doubt recognise ‘K.G.E.T.’ from the original ‘K-Jee’ funk bomb by The Nite-Liters in 1971, later covered famously by MFSB. Eugene updates the tune with disco-era style, flowing live and carrying the torch onwards from the bands back in the day.

Stripped back ‘Versions’ have been recorded of both tracks, giving you raw drums & acidic brawn. These are dj dubs focused on the dance floor, the real deal from The Lemko Unlimited Orchestra on Balearic.

Twilight, the collaboration of Clandestino’s Nick J Smith and Breese. North and South unites for some top-drawer Balearica.
 
We see Smith's musicality shine in the original - the bass throbs whilst arpeggios ebb & flow, acid lines pulsing in unison as Breese's relentless drums crackle like distant lightning. The tune moves at a hypnotising pace, drawing you out from the poolside and into a stormy desert dusk.
 
Forward to the remix - an intense ride for the house fans. Voodoo textures conjure bones rattling on string, weirding-up the mix, all set against epic crescendos plunging into wild drops that keep the crowd moving to a deep, driving beat. It's obvious Breese isn't here to mess about, he's here to smash in the dance floor.

Two versions, both bangers, one huge win for the duo with Ray of Light.

Twilight is a tantalising collaborative effort between Clandestino’s Nick Smith and Jim Breese; breaking cover with a slick debut release on Breese’ much lauded Balearic imprint. ‘Ray of Light’ is a double sided offering; the original giving focus to shimmering melodic elements, crisp italo drums and soaring synths that intertwine with stormy, atmospheric textures. On the flip Breese’ voodoo house remix ups the ante; delivering a driving cut with an irresistible bass sequence.
