As the northern hemisphere awakens from winter slumbers, SUZé creates "Late-blooming"; a vibrant spring awakening from the interconnected waterways that grow out of the Elbe like tree branches. Free-flowing analogue melodies glide like tendrils across a root system of heavy beat and percussive intent. Continuing a "Truly" powerful narrative, rapid rolling bassline paves the way for clipped melodies to blossom into a rousing symphony of colour and vitality. Raw energy prevails in hypnotic beauty and subtle white noise infusions.

A return to familiar waters, the distance between Europe and South Africa vanishes through LADS' musical mastery, while seasonal inverse converges in deep "Late-blooming". Always intelligent, motifs flurry in characteristic innovative fashion. A new story emerges, full of glorious technicolour rooted in SUZé's work. At the height of production powers, Subandrio creates anther "Truly" impressive remix. From the western edge of a teardrop island, organic motifs, elegant effects and brooding bassline capture a distinctive style. The latest release from Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes label artist Ruben Karapetyan back for a new EP. Following a ten-year hiatus, the Armenian born, USA based artist made a triumphant return to electronic music in 2020 with a series of the releases via the Greek imprint. On the strength of his ethno-progressive sound and remixes from Emi Galvin, Matan Caspi and Stan Kolev, Ruben earned praise and support from the underground's top tastemakers, while enjoying an extended stay in Beatport's Progressive House charts. Additional releases for Droid9 and Eat My Hat landed with equal fanfare, making the Los Angeles resident one of the progressive scene's fastest rising artists to emerge in recent times. Now continuing on that upward trajectory, Ruben returns to his comfortable home of Movement Recordings with a two-track showcase entitled 'Sooner or Later'.

Beginning with the title selection, Ruben crafts a spiritual slice of progressive house with a tantalizing atmospheric narrative. Played out over eight minutes, its fluid groove, pulsating rhythms and otherworldly effects come together for amazing moments across the first act. Subtle and refined, this sleek storyboard proves to be the perfect prelude for a two-minute of cross-cultural vocals and mystical textures, beautifully juxtaposed and heightening the senses onwards to a stirring finale.

The release concludes with the equally impressive 'Ihy'. Well in line with the previous selection with its free flowing, trippy style; a marriage of muscular grooves, devilish effects and driving percussion set the stage for an enticing narrative. Once again, the main break is set to delight dance floors with its transcendent vibes and exotic motifs, tactfully building across a cavernous two-minute stretch and setting the stage for a charged final movement. Exhilarating and memorable, it rounds out a welcome return to Movement Recordings for Ruben, who continues to be one of the progressive scene's brightest talents. Highly recommended.

Sydney based Luka Sambe has created an impressive portfolio with his organic progressive house sensibilities. Here he joins forces with another Sydneysider, Zankee Gulati, to deliver a tree track EP that's impressive in scope and highly engaging.

'Civic Path' leads to a magical forest filled with organic sounds: chirping birds, falling water and rustling leaves soaked in reverb create a nurturing environment. Offset that fantastic breakdown with the bubbling, elastic bass and fresh sizzling percussion, and you have a track as effective as a holiday.

The narrative on 'Burning Sage' might be more linear; however, the devil is in the details. As the track title's ceremonial implications might allude to, various fierce sounds create an almost dizzying effect. But once the sage hits to exorcise the demons, a stunning melody is introduced to ground the bedlam, all anchored in warm drums and soothing energy.

If you're after a straight up cosmic jam, then scratch that itch with '7 Days'. A lovely bass and celestial samples join forces with running synthesisers, all seemingly frolicking on their own accord. Automation enhances movement alongside melodic motifs that work together even though they're not singing for the same songbook. This is one for a lovely sunny afternoon.
