A bit about the mix:
While there has been a huge part of me lately that has felt quite introspective over the last few months, there's also a big part that misses the club - loud music, dancing etc. So this mix summarises this for me - it's quite club focused for the most part, with parts of introspection (and a little cheese at the end <3). Bits of IDM, techno, progressive trance and breaks - and a lot of tracks that have quite distinct elements typical of a mid-late 90s sound which I am super into lately. I had a lot of fun recording so I really hope you enjoy listening :)

melt mix vol. 10 - MAC Address

Orainn 02 is the second release on R.Kitt’s imprint. After initially setting up the label to release previous material featuring in live sets from festivals and club gigs last year, this release consists of brand new tracks all put together after the world fell apart. In R.Kitt’s words

“I felt like a lot of that old music was too intrinsically linked to a time and setting that doesn’t feel in any way relevant anymore. The environment of spaces like dance clubs or big open festival fields full of thousands of people seems so far away and the horizon isn’t even in sight, and it feels weird to try and understand or comprehend music that was made for those settings in a meaningful emotional way right now. Instead, this release tries to draw out some of the feelings I’ve been experiencing since everything changed.”

Volatile emotion is at the core of each of the 4 tracks on this EP. The opener, Dance Zoned, is a naïvely hopeful, rollercoaster paced, breaks infused piece that tries to distil meditative moments of elation found during this time. Due To reflects a more post-apocalyptic vision, robotic and desolate but buoyed by melodic bursts that serve to break through the cold atmosphere with injections of warmth. It’s Leaving Me feels like it is both tragically sad yet peacefully accepting, reflecting on loss, growth and change. The EP is rounded out by Not That Way, a foot down, all speed, no chance of stopping kind of tune.

These are not just tunes for the club space, which obviously doesn’t exist at the moment in anyway that we were previously familiar with. But the music is intended to summon the same kind of emotional release that we experienced in those spaces, in whatever environment you want, until we return.

"Hi I’m Will Davies and I go by the name of Analyst. I am London-based and Leeds born and I currently host a show called ‘Depolarise with Will’ on Vandelay Radio which is on the 4th Tuesday of each month. My taste has been heavily influenced and informed by Tribe Records in Leeds (big ups the best record shop in the world) and I owe a lot to them for helping me build my collection of music.

This mix was recorded solely on vinyl and represents a good number of techno styles from broken UK, 4x4, dub, deep and experimental. Listen out for some older familiar dancefloor rippers as well as some more recent favourites."

BV34 - Metro Jaxx Vol III [preview Clips]

A DJ duo forged on the streets of Boorloo and tempered in the backyards of North Perth, Mintox and Matt Ferret are two of the West Coast’s heavyweights.

Mintox can be found taking names on hazy Perghain dancefloors as well as maintaining tireless involvement in local organisations like RTRFM and Club Jewelz. 
Besides his notable role as a promoter and taste maker, Matt Ferret is one of the brains behind Perth party and music platform Crab Claw, co-host of RTRFM’s Thursday Drivetime and burgeoning producer. 

This mix is a melting pot of Matt and Mintox’s tastes and DJ styles and the two employed a focus on Australian and West Australian music, something they both are hugely passionate about championing. This mix was apparently a joy to record and definitely one to listen to!
