«Reflection Lines» is prepared for the end of the summer forth various artist compilation by Snippets Music from St.Petersburg. Nine tracks as always but this time there are a lot new names with music that we all love.
 
Snippets invited Ksky, Komartsov and Ellipse, who are already known for the label listeners. New friends from Belgrade - Cosmic G and Laars with a collaboration novella «Trancia», Maksim Polivanov from Motorama under the moniker Neporyadok and his «Jewel Box» and one of the most productive musicians in St. Petersburg — Rambal Cochet, also known as Volta Cab. FINA Records co-owner — Corbi, interesting duo who released their first vinyl on Gated Recordings this year — not even noticed, and the last but not the least is superb selector from Kazan, Tatarstan — Enfant.

Exit Planet Earth started as a series of records, selected and compiled by ralph lawson, featuring exclusive tracks from the emerging wave of exciting electronic music that emanated across the planet as we approached 2020. Inspired by sounds that captured the imagination the records seemed to hit a nerve as the world turned upside down and faced increasingly unstable times.

It was always the intention that the individual tracks would form a body of work that acted as a snap shot of how people were feeling worldwide as a steady stream of super villains seized power at the very worst time possible. During hard times people turn to music to express emotions as well as escape reality but we don’t know where that creativity process will lead until we turn on the machines - the results can be unexpected.

Over a collection of 25 tracks Exit Planet Earth delves into the reaction of electronic music artists across the planet during the craziest times of the 21st century. We find rules being broken, boundaries being crossed and genres being defied resulting in some moments of magic. Only by losing what we took for granted did we realise what we had in the first place.
Only by leaving the planet can we gaze back on our pale blue dot and appreciate our fragile existence…

TL PREMIERE : Zobol - Data Wars [20/20 Vision Recordings]

Neither Timothy J. Fairplay, nor Norwell are strangers to the Dalmata Daniel family: both of them are trustworthy contributors to DD compilation albums of earlier years, plus Norwell has released his 'ODD' EP and ‘Joint Spaceflights’ EP back in 2017 and 2019 on the label. So this time, it’s a return for Norwell, and a debut for Mr. Fairplay: their DDS09 split EP is here to present 4 tracks full of outer space lights, eerie vibes, mesmerizing beats and cosmic energies.

Timothy J. Fairplay’s side A starts with the explicit kicks and ominous basslines of ‘Caliber 9’. Slowly and steadily, the laser blasts and relentless drums all add up to define a world of space cadets on the run, where any odd-looking figure can turn out to be a malignant, speedy alien. ‘TV Tower’ takes us to another planet with an even higher rotation velocity. Fast percussion elements and squished lower frequencies take center stage in this intergalactic episode, but the whistle-like melodies and descending, bubbling robot signals make the journey complete.

Flip to side B, and enter the contemplating, otherworldly atmospheres of Norwell. ‘Midnight Rituals’ gives you the chills with its breath-like swooshes, grievous sirens and deadly asteroid belts. Yet, there is no need to worry: after an intense ride with your spaceship, eventually you end up in the same spot, where you started: in the stable and steady mid-tempo beats of an expertly-programmed drummachine. The orbital mission comes to an end with ‘Natives’, a dense and heroic hymn with emotive structures and well-crafted harmonics. The track starts with the bittersweet, lamenting synths of a solo voice, pouring their heart out in the spotlight, all alone on the stage. All of a sudden, a hard-hitting, rhythmic groove commences its last rush of dedicated cadences. It is full of breaks, it is full of 303s, completed with airy echoes and dreamy, light gestures. ‘Natives’ keeps on building its structure with elegant paces, providing a massive, yet delicate experience of Norwell’s defined aesthetics. The track lets the last strokes of its gloomy synths roll out, along with the final round of looping drums, thus putting an end to DDS09.

Chords cascade, blending and reforming, in the warming wonder of “Still Life.” “Dead Carnation” is from a similar place. Keys skipping down scales, dancing down them as percussion lends a touch of weight.“Distant” is the mood changer. Rain falls, smoke whirls and the night descends in this dark and intoxicating encounter. But those clouds part for the close. Lush pads and soaring notes break through for calming currents of the less than aptly titled “Hectic.” An artist rewriting stereotypes, an EP of true quality.

Berlin-based, Italian duo Subradeon returns to their own eponymous imprint with four more of their signature, elevating techno tracks which includes a remix from Detroit’s DJ Rolando.

Producers and DJ's first and foremost, Subradeon find soul at the heart of their work, be it via their productions on labels like Rekids, Character, Sous and Hardgroove - or in their consistently engaging DJ sets, where the duo's strong bond and years of collaboration make for an enigmatic mix of layered techno, house, acapellas and samples.
In 2018 the duo launched their self-titled imprint as a home for their own productions with the first two releases picking up an array of support from names such as Ben Sims, DJ Bone, Dave Clarke, Truncate, Spencer Parker and many more. Moving into 2020, Subradeon spent the early part of the year in the studio, mustering up their ‘We Are Resilient’ EP which addresses the theme of resilience and pays homage to the story of the Native Americans fighting for their rights and in support of them, the duo have decided to donate part of the profits to a Native American charity.
‘We Are Resilient’ begins with bumping grooves balanced with powerful political messages highlighting resistance and uplifting synths reminiscent of Detroit’s soulful techno style before ‘Don’t Fake The Funk’ lays down euphoric keys, delightfully resounding kicks and vibrant atmospheres alleviating you to another plane.
On the flip, ‘Wisdom’ continues with the inspiriting atmospheres as the sweeping lead synths bounce delicately off the fluid percussion and spiraling modulations in this energetic number. Detroit artist, former Underground Resistance member, and R3 Records label boss, DJ Rolando who has a number of outstanding releases to his name on labels such as Delsin, Ostgut Ton, UR and his very own label, rounds off the EP with a pulsating remix of ‘Wisdom’ featuring shimmering bass rolls smeared over the beautifully panned drums and sparse yet solemn strings.

This record is for the oppressed, the last, who this modern society has made invisible.
The common denominator is resilience, that feeling that allows us to still believe in collective hope.
