➤ About this EP:
Deep in the woods of a rugged little island, beatfarmer plays the music that drives him to dance. His love for dance carries him through many different styles of music and his passion is mixing organic world music sounds with beats that will move your body to dance and your spirit to soar.

Stories of Slipping away are about two things. It feels like people are losing their connection to the past, the rituals and roles that gave us purpose and grounding in difficult times. It is also a story about getting away from the clutter and distractions and retreating to nature, or creating your own, new rituals that bring a feeling of power and self-determination.Endless Sky and Song of the Sea are about exploring nature and slipping away from it all. Cosmopotamous and The Call are to inspire building a new world of ritual and connection, new tribes forming and bringing ideas together.
While times may feel tough at the moment, this is the ride of civilization. If we follow the call and patterns of the earth, the ride is much more smooth and steady. Either way, we might as well dance.
We also present the remixes of 4 outstanding artists such as Catatonique (Mexico), The Oddness (Australia), Ka:lu (Italy) and K2W0 (England). Each one contributes their talent to make an excellent piece of music as we always like: both listenable at home as well as on the dance floor.

When I left AfrikaBurn last year I knew I wanted to play on that Spirit. I was not sure how I was going to do it but the intention was strong and if you are going to learn anything about The Burn, it is that intention is the key to achieving in that magical space. I asked to play and Michael Kennedy said yes! I still reel from that when I write this and I will be forever grateful and in awe for the opportunity given.

As Lobo announced his arrival at Hauptbahnhof Station the atmosphere was electric. People walking in from all directions, the expectation was huge! All I wanted to do was get it going but I was forced to wait and in turn to soak it all in as the crew were plugging in to the sound system at the station. We were going to be playing off a full surround sound setup that was almost certainly going to blow your heart clean into the stratosphere. Eventually what seemed like an eternity my gear was plugged in and I sit here still in disbelief as to if it really happened. 

One of the best experiences of my life. Truly a dream come true to feel the movement of everyone on that perfect Wednesday night.  saw on the desert dance tears, laughter and love.

There is something about the Tankwa that changes the music in some way or form I cannot describe. It sounds better, it feels more, it becomes magic. Is it because we are in place that predates the dinosaurs? This is an old place and whatever it is, it changes what we feel and how sound travels. Fuller, richer, more beautiful... 

My expectations ended up being meaningless because I was living the unimaginable. 
I loved playing alongside that Spirit that is Lobo.

For our sixth Podcast, we welcome one of the key figures behind German label Nie Wieder Schlafen, and very close friend of ours, Steppi K. He has brilliant hair, a very cute fluffy dog called Spacey and an incredible collection and knowledge of electronic music. Today is somewhat of an unveiling of his new alias Trustless, under which he will finally be releasing his own productions, we cannot wait. Enjoy the mix and our little interview with the man himself. 

- Good Afternoon Mr Steppi, we will skip the usual introductory question. Whats your favourite aspect about the music scene/industry, and your least favourite aspect ?

Yeah, right...not important who we are, anyway. My favourite aspect, that's a tough one to answer...lately I think the new scene is absolutely understanding the main reasons of why we are doing this, bringing people together from every race, country, belief etc and doing something we all love in a friendly and peaceful environment, to show the world how we can all live together, without all those problems we have nowadays. I absolutely dislike the goals of many big events in the scene though... bigger events, bigger stages, outrageous prices for drinks & food, always the same line-up on absolutely every major event, borders to the Dj-booth, exploding confetti canons...it's moving towards an entertainment spectacle, that I think house music was never about. Connecting with any human being through music and having the space to be who you want to be, dance how you want and enjoy the freedom are absolute key parts, I see for the scene.

- You played with Sam Goku at an open air recently, which track did you enjoy playing the most?

It was a truly special event, not specifically because of the event itself but because playing with Sam Goku felt very special. We kinda embody 2 artists from Oleeva Records & Nie Wieder Schlafen in one city and that made it feel very special to me.  Back to the question though, I think the jam I absolutely felt the most was "Die Blaue Blume" from Luis Leon...it's an atmospheric bomb and the event was build in a circle platform with woods around it, so the reverb from the Funktion One made the track feel even more special!

- Your podcast is such a trip! How did you go about putting it together and choosing the tracks?

 Putting together this mix was quite a challenge...think of it as a puzzle I tried to bring back together...except the pile of puzzle pieces was mixed up with 5 different puzzles...so I had to try forever to finally piece it together...I replaced a lot of tunes throughout the weeks, that I didn't feel were into the flow. Also I had 2 quite different mixes before this third and final one... I had prepared a classical one and a very tribal one...but both felt limiting as I sometimes wanted to move away from the "theme" I had chosen. I could go on about his for a long time, but in the end I had this set with different tunes and sudden changes, but the tracks just work together perfectly, even though they are quite changing the pace, that's why I kept the pitch on the same level to keep some technical parts in the same "groove" so to say.

- What have you got planned for the rest of year, anything exciting?

 I had this "Trustless" project planned for quite a while now...but it never felt right, because time was rare and I personally need some days to sit down and actually produce music. I will visit Kotu in Croatia very soon and will have a month of to suck in some inspiration and really build a nice creative mind to produce material, that might be ready to play out in the end of the year! This feels like a great start of the project and I'm ready to focus on my own music.

The music of Etran Finatawa blends the traditional music of the Wodaabe and Tuareg people with western instruments such as the electric guitar.

Since 2005 they have toured extensively in Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia. In 2007, their debut album Introducing Etran Finatawa (2006) was nominated for a BBC Radio Award for World Music.  They released their follow-up, Desert Crossroads, in 2008, and in 2010 released Tarkat Tajje/Let's Go. In 2013, the band released their fourth album, "The Sahara Sessions".

The name of the band means "the stars of tradition".
