What’s the proper reaction? I haven’t a clue.

Then enters a colleague, collected and calm,
addressing her sorrow, caressing her arm.
He hits every cue, he carries the scene,
such a well-aligned cog of the social machine.
I watch him with wonder and envy his form,
this port in a raging emotional storm…
