On Board Music kicks off 2021 with Point C, the third in a series of Various Artist 12-inches. It continues the label's exploration of the heady atmospheres between techno, dub, and ambient, where the boundaries between the dancefloor and headphone introspection are blurred. The five-tracker 'Point C' sees the return of Hiver, Sylve, and Hironori Takahashi to the label and debuts of Foreign Material and Alan Backdrop. 

Sylve's "Cloudless Raindrops" is a dreamy, feel-good House track that comes out at the perfect time with first spring blooms. Its four to the floor groove layered with shakers and raindrop field recordings set an ideal foundation for hazy pads that move like ebb and flow, allowing filtered piano and arpeggiated wooden perc to shine through like first sun rays after Spring showers. 

Point C is coming out on March 22 via On Board Music.

PREMIERE: Sylve - Cloudless Raindrops [On Board Music]

Tripped-out, leisurely house and breaks comprises the next drop on Haŵs, and for the established Welsh imprint, number 13 is far from unlucky – in fact, it’s coming in as ecstatic. Perth producer Guy Contact takes the reigns for ‘Euphoria Simulator’, a 6-track EP radiating with all the charm and optimism of a liberated future. Opening the first of four house tracks, ‘Into The Blue’ makes light work of bass melodies and fresh kicks, bouncing skywards as though emerging from a thinning fog into a clear day. ‘Nice 2 B Free’ is imbued with touches of sentimentality, pouring outwards like the laissez-faire movements of a serene dancer entwined within a group of friends. The eccentric ‘Whip Crack Cowboy’ takes the camaraderie of country twang into a colourful new world, mediating psychedelic guitar strings into harmony with synths and a cathartic house beat. On the B-side, the titular ‘Euphoria Simulator’ doubles down on the bass but keeps its overall ride light and airy, dipping between piano, synths and rhythms warm enough to breathe emotion into a cold room. The final two tracks untether from their house confines: ‘Amphibian Pool’ dubs down into a hypnotic, marine-level drift, elongating croaky basslines alongside punchy breaks and acid lines during its descent. Finally, ‘Subaquatic Jungle’ hits the ocean floor, discovering an enigmatic world alive with a fauna of percussion and distortions that slope through dense, bassy undercurrents. For anyone looking to impart a kaleidoscope of blissful feelings onto dancefloors, ‘Euphoria Simulator’ sits patiently ready to heighten the senses.

ØEN Records is back with a special two track EP from up and coming Copenhagen based producer Fruit (@fruitdj). Originally from Iceland, but based in Denmark, Fruit has been making waves in the Copenhagen club scene with his eloquent DJ and live-sets. Following up his acclaimed 2019 Drømmeland EP he is finally back with two epic, fast-paced and euphoric tracks to light up the summer dance floors.

Drawing inspiration from myths and legends and particularly the Epic of Gilgamesh – a 4000 year old poem from ancient Mesopotamia – “Gilgamesh” is a hypnotic and trancey trip destined for the peak hours of the post-corona parties.

Created during the peak of the pandemic on an old half broken borrowed MacBook, the two distinct but kindred tracks are testament to Fruits unique production style, effortlessly navigating between euphoric fast-paced house, ambient soundscapes, hypnotic percussion and haunting atmospheres. Skillfully crafted and executed “Gilgamesh” is primed for both floor and mind.

Wow, how time flies. I can’t believe I am putting out record number five already. This release comes from star of the future Adam Pits. I have known Adam for a long time as he was a few years below me at school and then proceeded to go to uni in Leeds like I did. He is from the same crew as Breaka, and there must be something in the water up there because these guys and the rest of their mates are producing the best shit in town right now. 

It is a privilege to put out Adam’s first piece of wax because these two tunes are dynamite from start to finish.
Socket Power, simply put is what you would call a bomb. I have been playing it out for the last six months and without fail it destroys the dance floor every time. That second drop hits, people go nuts, and the ID crew come straight over with their phones at the ready. Danger danger...

As is customary on Holding Hands the B side doesn’t slow down in the slightest. Balance Beam is a combination of spacey European techno mixed with South London 2-step. I hope you like getting repeatedly pummelled by sub bass hits because that is what you are signing up for when you give this one a spin.

For the B2 I have enlisted the remix duties of one of the baddest people in the game. Junq has been putting out the electro tinged bangers for many a year now, and he has truly smashed this remix out of the park. You should have seen the stank face that I was pulling when I first heard it in the studio. As cool as it gets...

All three tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. They want big sound systems and dark rooms.
