HJ002-VA – “Friction”

The second release on Hypnotic Journeys brings together emerging Georgian producers and celebrated names from the global techno scene, weaving a story of tension, resistance, and transcendence.

Batumi-based newcomer Grenuy opens the compilation with a debut ambient piece that feels both intimate and expansive, a slow-burning meditation on space and emotion. His work is reimagined by Van Morph, a revered producer and founder of Khoros Records, who drives the track into deeper territory with an old-school, hypnotic groove.

NFNM (formerly Kapa), a young yet distinctive voice in the Tbilisi underground, delivers a piece of textural techno rich with movement and raw emotion. The journey concludes with a powerful remix by Tsott, founder of the forward-thinking Spira Records, whose deep and cerebral approach brings the compilation full circle.

“Friction” is a testament to Hypnotic Journeys’ ethos: uniting generations, sounds, and visions through hypnotic techno as a futurist statement.

Paranoid London are on the brink of releasing their second album, ‘PL’, which finds duo Quinn Whalley and Gerardo Delgado delving into the dark, analogue territory they explored on their 2015 self-titled debut. ‘PL’ boasts a series of guests including queer scene darling Josh Caffe (on the already-released ‘Vi-Vi (Vicious Games)‘, Alan Vega from Suicide, A Certain Ratio’s Simon Topping, Arthur Baker, Warmduscher frontman Mutado Pintado as well as Bubbles Bubblesynski, the trans activist and DJ who was murdered in 2017. ‘Cult Hero (Do You Wanna Touch Me)’ – which we’re premiering below, takes a squiggly, acid-meets-EBM beat with post-punk frontman Simon Topping’s vocal driving the track forward. Salda starts with deep feeling and vocals and hearing some "baglama" riffs with synth reminiscent of the past
on track.

Rasi Z adds a dark touch to salda and adds even more groovy.

Shai T takes us on an imaginary journey,his remix invites us to dance with the rhythms of the familiar Shai T.

I recently started to give my Digitakt Jams titles. "Reject My Mind" got pretty atmospheric with a sweet experimental infusion. 

So yes this track is a Digitakt performance. The background texture of the extra long intro (I love long buildups!) uses the Digitakts trigg repeat feature at a speed of 1/64, prohabiltiy of 50% and combined with different Loopback LFO modulations on the delay and reverb channels.
