Biography:
After being wounded near Kandahar City Afghanistan in 2011 with other close soldiers and losing 2, Jay Deckard and Manuel Lopez thought it was time to get together and do something positive to get their minds off the war and onto paper. Before their injuries, any down time they had in Afghanistan was spent on getting together writing and recording songs. A lot of phone calls were made home to send... the bare necessities to record. They made a few recordings and called themselves “Punk Ass!" Recording songs such as “Queen for a Year”, “Lonely Soldier”, “Death March", “The One that Was”, “Since I Been Gone”, “No One Can Get Me Down”, “Ooba Dooba”,”Rufied”, “ and “Lockdown” were all recorded in Afhganistan. All these songs were written about how we felt at the time, memories of certain missions, spiritual upliftings, and some just straight forward humorous songs to keep our sanity. Porch Light performed their first live gig in June 2012 at the Cascade Community Center put on through the MWR. Porch Light will have future performances around Olympia and Tacoma area, all performances will be added as invites, so grab your friends and family and check them out.
