Within the pursuit of alchemy there exists a set of governing constants which limit the potential of even its greatest practitioners, diminishing the potency of their concoctions and inhibiting the progress of their discipline alike. No matter the exotic reagent, exacting distillation process, or expert formulation utilized in their creation, the potions of all alchemists are unable to grant to humanity anything beyond that of their highest biological potential. Their philters are unable to transmute elements, only to purify them into their base component form. On the tongues of practiced alchemists, this limitation is spoken of simply as “The Cure”.

It is said that the alchemist who first breaks through The Cure shall attain a position of incomprehensible power, as should no limit exist beyond its bounds there would be nothing to prevent the exponential increase of their ability through the recurrent consumption of their own works. It is thus that many alchemists view The Cure as a benevolent obstacle, emplaced by the gods themselves to ensure the safety of their creation. Yet to others The Cure is shackle that stands between their attainment of that very divinity, and the works of their kind are oft conducted in utmost secrecy, beyond the watchful gaze of those that may deem such attempts to defy The Cure heretical. Many have perished in the rituals of such research, and yet in the deepest dungeons the work of their ilk continues, pursuant of both the weal and woe that its end goal shall surely summon. For now The Cure remains unbroken - but is end may seep through the tubing of a shadowed alembic even now, trickling towards its vitriolic dissolution.

NUVERTAL returns to EATBRAIN to administer his latest sonic concoctions with THE CURE, a four track EP swirling with acrid basslines and potent percussive sequences set to imbue the EATBRAIN horde with an unrelenting vigour.

First came the blinding flash of light. Then came the mushroom cloud, and then finally came the sound-pressure wave which rippled across the already destroyed landscape like a featherduster on a high shelf. The city’s remaining population took little notice of this event, save for the fact that the shockwave detached some of their limbs and disrupted the proceedings of their ongoing competition. Fortunately, the Undead Champions League had a procedure for such an event - competitors knocked off of gym equipment could resume their series of reps with no penalty, while those who experienced partial dismemberment would be repaired and given a 15-minute break to allow time for the proper reintegration of the limb. 

There was, after all, no worry for any lack of time. Many had passed in the initial attack years ago, but a select few who had been closest to the center of the blast had experienced a profound transformation in the instant that they were stripped of their flesh, as an extreme macrodose of radiation unlocked latent psionic energies in their brains. They were all who remained of what had once been the human race, and in their newfound forms, they continued to find joy as they once had with tests of sportsmanship and skill now unbound by the evils of musculature and the lactic acid it produced. Undead Championship League matches could last for weeks, and as competitor #38 counted his 89,072nd pull-up on the high bar, the skeletal forms of the survivors erupted into a rattling chatter of cheers - a new world record of psionic power & mental fortitude had just been reached!

NAIS returns to EATBRAIN with PULL UP, flexing his sound design muscles to present an impressive display of four-neurofunk sequences sure to inspire fervent dancefloor workouts for the fleshy bodies of the EATBRAIN horde.

After consuming the primeval energies of an entire planetoid, the gargantuan interstellar being had wandered the stars for a time. At its core churned the life forces of one trillion beings, subsumed and intertwined by the nature of its interdimensional existence. The singularity of consciousness that lay at its core was thus one of cacophony & discord, as those of strongest will that still clung to some faint inkling of individuality sought to exert their influence over all others, pushing upwards amidst the maddening din of psychic energy and drowning those beneath them in turn.

In willful ignorance of the chaos that churned within it, the great being had come to rest in the orbit of a distant star, beginning a hibernation that would last for eons as the life that raged within began to slowly seep to the surface. Thus came new life upon the surface of the beings slumbering body, born from the original images of all that which the behemoth had consumed and wrought into entirely new forms by the crucible at its core. In an age to come, the being would wake again, consuming the distant ancestors of the life that it had now born into existence. For the current age, its duty had been fulfilled - the cycle of DIVERGENCE had been carried out once more.

EATBRAIN unveils DIVERGENCE VI, the latest entry in the label’s compilation series which celebrates the diverse and devastating breadth of their artist’s sound. Centuries had passed since the initial arrival of the extraterrestrial sonic emitter on the planet’s surface, and the culture of the beings who inhabited that world had evolved much since the initial encounter. They now composed great musical works of their own, and over time, the alien device had come to lie forgotten, buried beneath the dense jungle floor and still festooned by the decorative textiles that its original inheritors had attached to celebrate its wondrous powers. Here it lay for ages until, in searching for the origins of their ancestors, a group of explorers discovered the idol of the bass cult once more.

The discovery was at first one of bemusement - an obvious hoax played by a rival expedition, perhaps. For so fine a speaker to be discovered so far from modern civilization was an absurd concept. Yet there was something about the craftsmanship, an intricate, spiraling pattern etched into its enclosure that was mirrored in the artworks of the ancient peoples of these lands. Their ancestors could not have crafted such a device, so where then could it have come from? As the leader of the expedition lifted it from the soil, the device rang out with a sonorous & soothing hum, enrapturing all those who stood gathered before their new discovery as it rattled their bodies with low-frequency sound. Thus it was that THE CULT OF BASS was born anew, and the alien artifact’s powers were resurgent once again

Standing atop a cliffside and astride a confluence of two major rivers, the castle, which had once stood as a bastion to protect the kingdom’s heartlands, had now fallen into ruin & disrepair. Stones crumbled and tumbled from its parapets, gathering in the piles of rubble that now lay strewn about the courtyard. No human had set foot inside the place in decades, not since the failed rebellion of the castle’s last lord. Long besieged by the loyalist forces of the king, the disgraced lord had turned to dark magics to fend off the final assault, sacrificing the lives of seven of his knights for unnatural aid. Though he repulsed the assault, he too had now long since perished, consumed by the great beast that now slithered through the keep in his stead.

Thus it was that the once splendorous castle had come to be avoided by all in the kingdom. Traders refused to travel the waters beneath its gaze, for fear of tales of travelers snatched by the horror that lurked within the castle walls. Nearby villages had been abandoned by the peasantry, leaving once fertile farmland fallow and threatening to throw the kingdom’s population into famine. Now, the king stood before the castle once more, flanked by his retinue of most skilled & noble knights and a levy of some one thousand soldiers, many of whom were peasants seeking to reclaim their lost homes. Yet even for all the strength of the force he had assembled, the king wondered quietly if their might would be enough - such was the fearsome & savage prowess of the HYDRA that now called the castle home.

INSTINKT makes their EATBRAIN debut with HYDRA, rallying the label’s horde under their banner as they tell the fearsome sonic tale of the seven-headed monster across the EP’s four tracks.

Skulking through the shadows underneath the city streets was a horrendous beast, an amalgamation of once human flesh that had been absorbed from those discarded and forgotten on the streets above. In time, the last vestiges of these individuals vengeful will had sought each other out, infusing in their rotten remains a revenant power that sought revenge on those by whom they had been slain. With each corpse that their combined form came across the monster grew in might, and with each killer that they slew in vengeance they found within themselves a spark of arcane power restored to their being.

It was thus that they now held in thrall before their combined visage one who had slain many of their ilk, a prolific killer in his own right now paralysed in their grasp. From within their many-toothed maw shone a pale red light, hypnotic and enwrapturing for any to whom it shone. The light’s allure drew them in, unsuspecting, before the beast’s horrific embrace consumed them in a furious feast vengeful rage. Thus it was known that for all those who drew blood on the streets of the city above, the DEADLIGHT lurking below was to be their destined end.

DROPSET returns to EATBRAIN with his debut EP, DEADLIGHTS, and unveils four hypnotically horrifying tracks for the ears of the EATBRAIN horde.
