Today’s premiere comes from a label that has, over the last year or so become a close follow for myself and has graced a few of our ‘Bandcamp Pick’ lists. The Mexico City based ‘Secuencias Temporales’, precise artistic vision and breadth of their releases mesh well with us at Delayed and we’re happy to premiere ‘Urama’ off their forthcoming Aucuba Replica release.

If the name doesn’t sound familiar, Aucuba Replica represents the creative output of two Delayed favorites, Adhémar and Olorun. A combination that explores sound design grounded by field recordings and seemingly similar motifs that upon closer inspection contain a multitude of different details. 

Urama and in turn the rest of the release evoke visions of an unnamed jungle, through various states of clarity, light, and dark. The mists obscuring most of the inner workings, with the calls of birds echoing through the trees. Urama is a journey through the depths.

Octex (real name Jernej Marusic) has been experimenting with music equipment since the late 90s when he fell in love with the sound of old analog synthesizers. In all this years he found himself in doing 'Organic Crackle and Tone EXperiments' (Octex), fusing his diverse influences with the unique flavour of Ljubljana. This resulted in releases on numerous compilations, the first one being Elektrotehnika Slavenika.

In 2002 he released his debut album "Idei Lahesna" on Tehnika Records, which received high praises from both critics and the public, and tracks from it got licensed to numerous compilations and mix CDs. His self-made video for the track "Emergon" got played on such TV stations as VIVA and Onyx TV, which is quite surprising for this style of music. 2005 saw the release of "Variations" on rx:tx label on which "the misty, heavily processed dub of Variations, sunk in the thicket of unique soundings, crackles and noises is so thick, greasy and interlaced, that it can swallow an unprepared listener."

In the meantime, Octex has become one of the most active Slovenian live acts and has performed on such prominent festivals as Club Transmediale, FutureSonic, ISEA, La Batie, Nuit Blanche and Exit - either solo or as part of multimedia project Signal-Sever.

Since 2014 Tominori Hosoya has been steadily releasing music for the love of creative expression.

His music has appeared on the likes of Minuendo Recordings, Snail Juice Records, Mixx Records and many more. However, his most recent outing has seen him appear on the prolific New York based imprint Scissor & Thread with a new EP which see's him operating under the alias of Tomi Chair alongside his own name. The release itself spans the realms of ambient, electronica, house and deep moody soundscapes. 

Based in Tokyo, Japan he has evolved as a producer and disc jockey across a number of years, utilising his own interest in progressive, forward thinking experimental music.

Meandering between worlds he is a truly unique talent and we are delighted to have him contribute to our mix series.
