The city lights flashed by in a blur of colours, their reflection painting shapes on the windows. Lost souls and sober faces rubbed shoulders, forced smiles and vacant eyes met across the carriage. One journey was different to the next, but here everyone was bundled together trying to find their way somewhere unknown. Where were they headed? Where had they been? Each had a name, each had a story to tell, each had fears and desires that bubbled below...

Brighton-based producer WDDS has an elegant yet straightforward take on jungle, DnB and breaks. Recently he's contributed to a compilation on Dublin label Woozy, while on his own imprint he's been churning out a series of floaty, atmospheric singles that fill you to the brim with nostalgia. The next is 'Subway', which began as a voyage into melodic breaks but took a turn into no-nonsense jungle territory as part of WDDS' live set. It might be more of a heavy hitter than his previous outing but it still retains that inherent dreaminess we've come to associate with his music.

Miami based DJ and producer Jonny From Space moves stealthily, but distinctively throughout the music realm. His creative ventures seep into different areas within the sonic scene - from releases on labels like OMNIDISC, Space Tapes and Schematic as well as collaborations with Danny Daze, Nick León, Coffintexts and INVT.

JFS is a resident DJ and key member of Club Space and III Points Festival. His latest endeavor is cofounding the party series ODD (Objects Don’t Dance) with friends and collaborators Sister System and True Vine. JFS produces a range of sounds with no constraint - drummy ambient techno sounds, ethereal downtempo melodies, droning sonic syncopations, all shaken down to the core.

After a string of self releases and fresh off 2 collab EP’s with both Danny Daze on his OMNIDISC imprint and Coffintexts on her label, Jonny follows up with his first solo EP for OMNIDISC, ‘No Swim Advisory’. Inspired by his home in Miami Beach, Florida, Jonny channels the energy of his beloved hometown while exploring different takes of techno / electro with sub-aquatic themes, latin infused drum patterns, Miami bass, and the chaotic nature of Miami nightlife. No Swim Advisory is a dedication to his home in South Florida, known for its vast wetlands and beaches that make up an elaborate, yet fragile, ecosystem in which its inhabitants depend on one another for survival. The wetlands have been constantly overlooked and considered useless areas up for development, despite its massive importance to the water supply and being one of the most productive and diverse ecosystems on the planet.

Jonny From Space // No Swim Advisory EP // OMD029

The latest release on Livity Sound features an extensive insight into the work of Seb Uncles, aka Eusebeia. Uncles has been releasing his work prolifically over the past six years, from self-released tapes on Rebellion Electronics through to reams of 12”s and LPs for labels like Earthtrax, Western Lore, Rupture London and re:st. While his sound has often tilted towards drum & bass and jungle, he places atmosphere and composition ahead of genre boundaries and tempo restrictions.  

Cosmos EP finds Uncles stretching out over eight varied tracks for a broader experience compared to the usual Livity EP. Glacial ambience and richly layered synthesis guides the record overall, at times leaving drums behind altogether, but even at its mellowest you can sense the overbearing bias towards soundsystem music. The melancholic electronica of ‘Becoming’ gets underpinned by dread bass, and ‘Solace’ places a haunting steppas-esque refrain in the midst of heavily dubbed downtempo. When he does turn to full-tilt drumfunk edits on the likes of ‘Hopes & Dreams’ and ‘Love + Light’, he approaches them with subtlety and finesse, matching rhythmic flair with melodic progressions which lend themselves to introspective listening as much as full dancefloor immersion.

Eusebeia - Becoming

Something didn't feel right; he couldn't put his finger on what but everything seemed difficult to compute. Dim lamps blared like full headlights, whispered words sounded like screams and even the slightest brush of fabric on his skin made him shiver all over; as if out of nowhere he'd become sensitive to the smallest things and they would send his mind into collapse. What was going on inside his head? Could it be fixed or would this be forever? A million questions swirled around his brain, each one draining what was left of his energy reserves...

Manchester-based DJ and producer Korzi has already proved his curatorial abilities through his co-run imprint and party series Left, Right & Centre, which has been a space for forward-thinking UK bass and techno releases. A dab hand in crafting these sounds himself, he's now launched his own imprint, Bone Idle, as a platform for his own boundary-pushing UK techno productions. The first release is Brain Zaps, which pays homage to soundsystem culture and low end frequencies, and sees Korzi explore sharp synths, punchy bass lines and frenetic drum patterns.

We Out Here is the highly anticipated debut EP from Dublin’s Plus One on First Second Label. The prolific musical polymath lays down 4 sub-wrenching club tracks indebted to hardcore futurism with a canny pop sensibility.
Plus One is an alias of cultishly adored producer Matt Finnegan, a veteran beatsmith behind multiple productions for Irish rapper Kojaque, amongst other impressive credits on an expansive CV. He concurrently eyed up the dancefloor, stocking an impressive hard drive of unreleased club tracks that were subsequently rinsed heavily by the likes of Ben UFO, re:ni and EMA to name but a few. 
This is his solo debut proper, and comes impressively fully formed from the off. We Out Here starts the engines with a deliciously sub-y stepper of epic big room potential, with a fittingly large bassline to boot. Hood Up Head Down is suspended in an aqueous ambient-drowned RnB bath before unfurling into lush 2-step in romantic fashion. Kiki bobs assuredly along a breaks-y techno pulse amongst a twinkling twilight melody and an emotive reese-bass stunner of a line. Me concludes the EP on a necessary 160 tip, flexing a modern jungle rinse out with sharp amens and soaring melodic subs to round off this statement of intent. - Nevan Jio

Starting off proceedings on the EP is the electrifying title track ‘Stoned Faces’ guaranteed to do peak time damage, driven by a rising synth line and explosive low end pressure percussion pay homage to some of the best of UK techno and bass music. Up next is ‘Faint’ a playful wobbler, combining a wubby baseline with trippy sample manipulation and glitchy percussive fills. Closing out the release is ‘Soulmate’, anchored around glitched-out vocals, powerful bassweight-focussed and  minimalist flair. These tracks share a taste for deep, wriggling bass; distorted plumes of low-end pressure writhe and growl on top of tectonic drum beats.

@goodmostlybad brings three new chugging, bass-heavy tracks to Scuffed on her Shawty 3.0 EP. 

Since debuting the alias in 2020, Indian-born, Qatar-based artist GoodMostlyBad has been honing her craft both as a producer - with tracks appearing on compilations from Daytimers, Earful of Wax, and Reel Long Overdub, alongside a string of self-released projects - and as a DJ, guesting on Rinse FM, Balamii and Reprezent, as well as hosting her own residency on New Delhi’s Boxout FM. 

Citing hip hop, Afrobeats, dancehall and grime as major influences, GoodMostlyBad’s sound eschews definition but pulls from an array of contemporary club genres to create throbbing grooves and dark, intense atmospheres. 

On the Shawty 3.0 EP, GoodMostlyBad further develops the sound she has been nurturing over the past few years, with three tracks that are as ready for headphone sessions as they are for chugging club sets.

yet is a slippery word in English. Amorphous, these three letters in different contexts can define contrast or emphasis, set a place in time, show an expectation that something will occur or, paradoxically, that it is likely to stop.

It is this mercurial nature that makes yet the perfect title for the latest @tresor compilation: the label follows on from the more explorative sections of 2021’s landmark Tresor 30 boxed set with a compilation, featuring 13 artists making music that resists easy definition.

Track 12 comes from @solid_blake, whose track 'Hexaghost' is a hefty, broken beat track of experimental techno, with Tresor the perfect landing spot for the Copenhagen-based producer's sonic palette.
