Behind the pen vindictive, melancholy, hides the eyes of Michel Nzau, instigator of the afrogroove, it is the project multiethnic whose essence remains except the sound live. There are few artists whose music, indefinable and sensuously African, invites you to dance, and reflection at the meeting. His productions are full of mixtures and express the inheritance of a music lover looking for innovative groove. Far from the shackles, sweat daring.

Designed in 2006 as a creative platform around the guitars, musicians and multimedia artists and other engineers of sound, Bantunani is one of those constellations which revolve wills in the service of creative art that the structure is seen to change with each project .. Each new album evokes a new life with new faces of musicians who come together when the hard core push the boundaries of the so-called afrogroove.

As a long journey, Michel has created around a core group of quality musicians, both guarantors of writing and freedom

is found when Michel at the helm, Niwa Koshi, bassist Japanese because of its Thurs dark rock with hints soukouss just sit singing and guitar Nicolas Mazzola, the Sicilian mandolin pop and arpeggios. It collects guitars and guitar rifts effective than the rhythm of the old wiseman Umberto Luambo who knows everything about afro rythm and Jazz cultures. In this mix sound, the sweet sensuality of the female vocals, warm and seductive surprises and attracts the timbre soul rocker Ametys uses it alongside many guests.

Group name:
The name of the group Bantunani would have three meaningsperformed well in the group's philosophy, the first sense comes from the Lingala (language spoken in Congo-DRC), which means Bantu the 'Bantu people' and would return  the question tois this people?, the second meaning is more of a universalist because it refers to the notion of Bantu as a human being, hence the question who are we?
Finally, the last sense, the Bantu word also means 'people' so we have the question, who are these people? In this case is this group Bantunani.

Depuis sa création en 2006,la vie du groupe fut mouvementée mais riche. Les changements de line-up furent nombreux car la démarche et le projet du groupe sont toujours remis en cause afin de garder leur pertinence.

Sous l’impulsion de Michel Nzau, le groupe exprime avec force l’alliance parfaite entre tradition et rythmes modernes où chaque membre amène sa culture musicale:

Que ce soit Johnny Millebaga ou Désiré (Dezzy drums), à la batterie et Niwa Koshi (un Japonais), à la guitare basse, le socle groove est maintenu  dans une parfaite alliance des influences. Umberto Luambo, cofondateur du groupe,se montre garant de la tradition africaine reconnaissable à son jeu de guitare qui oscille entre la guitare cocotte et le hard-rock.

Ce noyau est alors un vecteur de rencontre, telle une plateforme humaniste où d'autres artistes viennent enrichir l'aventure Bantunani qui, à chaque projet album se redefinit.

Dans ce savant mélange acoustique, la douce sensualité des choeurs féminins, chaleureuse et séductrice attire et surprend, 

Derrière l’élan musical que suscite la plume satirique, on retrouve une énergie envoûtante dans l’interprétation scénique de Michel qui fait que la danse devient un instrument au service du verbe. One is intrigued listening to this wild group with vindictive and melancholic undertones. This « multiracial » group proposes a nu-rumba concept based on afro-groove fusion, where afro-rhythms meet hip-hop, funk, soul, and jazz. The group’s songs are powerful and aware. Bantunani’s music is both a  consciousness raising and a dancing music.

Under the driving force of Michel Nzau, the group is a perfect blend between traditional and modern rhythms where every member brings in his or her own musical culture. The group is in perpetual re-evaluation of its artistic approach vis-a-vis its artistic and humanistic objectives. So since its creation in 2006 the life of the groups has been rich and eventful, witnessing an evolution in its constitution.
The rhythmic core, made of the drummer Johnny Millebaga or of Désiré (Dezzy Drums) and of the base player Niwa Koshi, is always maintained in its blending with other influences. Umberto Luambo is the co-founder and guitar player of the group. One recognizes the african style of his playing that can also call in hard rock elements or (« guitar cocotte style »!).

This is the nucleus of the group around which other artists gravitate, enriching the Bantunani experience. An experience that is renewed with each album. But we must not forget the surprising, sensual and languorous chorus that adds itself to this electro-acoustic combination, and most of all the mesmerizing energy of the lead singer, Michel Nzau who transforms dance and music into instruments at the service of the verb.
