After their recent success with industry-leading releases on labels like Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream, and their very own Bantwana’s Kollektiv imprint, South African artists, Bantwana’s are back again with a vocal rich two-track EP entitled, ‘Gus & Lib’ that once again pins them at the forefront of the ever-growing Organic Afro House movement.

The African electronic band, Bantwana’s latest EP delivers nothing short of a mesmerizing foray into their sound while fusing African elements with edgy electronic production.

Setting the bar high for the EP to come, the title track, ‘Gus & Lib’ starts things off with a soulful rhythmic guitar lead that perpetuates throughout the whole track, while emotively harmonic vocals provide the backdrop to this energetic masterpiece. Atmosphere and danceability are at the forefront of this track, encompassing the listener with the nuance of Bantwana’s production prowess and leading gracefully into the second track of the EP.

Closing things off on a high note, ‘Ingelengele’ begins with an addictive percussive rhythm and an enigmatic lead that fuels the subtle undertones of this beautifully written track. Moog-esque basslines and stunning vocals by DRC’s proud Danny Ndaye clearly define the focus, while backing vocal hooks push the listener forward and keep you hooked until the very last beat, yet again proving why Bantwana’s have been able to rise up through the ranks in such a short time.

Speaking about the EP, Bantwanas lead band member and co-producer, Blanka Mazimela commented:

“The title of the EP is taken from the names of my great grandfathers Gustyekeketye and Libalele. The track channels them through the lyrics ‘siyalubona uthango luphelile’ which means ‘we can see the kraal is falling apart’. The bigger meaning is assuring the ancestors that we will continue to rebuild what they’ve left for us. Excited we finally got to translate this piece of art into music”.
 
Bantwana’s ‘Gus & LIb’ will be available everywhere on September 18th 2020 via Bantwanas Kollektiv.

Cape Town based musical ensemble 'Bantwanas' are back with their second single ‘Ngoma’.
Bantwanas or ‘Children of Africa’ is an umbrella collective made up of internationally acclaimed songwriter and
producer Ryan Murgatroyd, alongside his protégé Blanka Mazimela and a plethora of hugely talented local
musicians and vocalists.
Bantwanas return with their sonic tone; the coupling of traditional African notes and vocals with dance music
beats and basslines.
Ngoma follows on the success of 'Ngithanda', which held the Beatport Deep House Top 5 for a number of weeks
and saw huge support from the likes of Lee Burridge, Rampue, Lane 8, Paco Osuna and others.
'Ngoma' delivers rolling African drums that blend fluidly with the harmonic chorus while the driving hypnotic
beat and buoyant melodic bassline demonstrate the signature of Ryan Murgatroyd.
The release is rounded out with magnificent support by the local force of nature Aero Manyelo and production
genius Kostakis.

The latest single, ‘Bravo Zulu’ from the fast rising electronic African band, Bantwanas follows on from their epic vocal and wistful release on Lee Burridge’s imprint, All Day I Dream. This fast driving percussive track takes Shona proverbs, narrated by the
Zimbabwean rooted vocalist, Ushe.
 The lyric sends messages to the Gods echoing the cries of the nation, 'sibiza izulu lizokhanyisa'.
Accompanying the original, is a Kususa remix, which infuses the raw African elements and takes it into a sophisticated Afro-tech late night groove.
