Unreleased track sent to a Budabeats compilation 12 years ago - the track did not make it there in the end, as the compilation was taking a different direction. Following the same recipe as my 2010 Budabeats EP "Csodaszarvas", sampling my grandfather's records & some of my own.

Kik mintázzák Magyarországot (2012)

After an almost one-year-long hiatus, I was back in my Budapest studio at the end of 2024, working with the vocals of the Finnish techno collective Business City.

I crafted many sounds during this session using my rare 70's amps and DIY spring reverb, even a modified morse code machine which was used in the Hungarian Armed Forces during the last century. I patched a "modular dub siren" with a few of my eurorack modules too.
I was also getting down to use old but gold samples from my 15+ year-old library of "rechordings". The flow was lovely all round, and I also feel that the vocals are still killing it, even in multiple kinds of genres.

This release succeeded in targeting new and unexplored territorries, and also in paying tribute to the now classic, back then novel digital approaches of dubtechno / electronic dub. 

The original track was created simultaneously with the remixes, so 'Precipitation' was a special kind of remix project in which every creator was in the dark during the making. The remixers had never heard the original before, because there had not been any original at the time, and they were only working on their own versions of the sounds they had got. The artwork was done by Mark Fridvalszki, a long-time collaborator of the Hungarian underground techno scene. 

Banyek's "original" track intends to merge the shivering quick rhythms of freetekno and Indian polyrhythms - yet all is expressed with the organic sounds of dubtechno. Noisy chords become over-percussive and colored noise jets out through the vacuum of the deep drums. Despite being unusually quick for dubtechno, it brings the relaxed air of a long-lasting summer storm in ever-scorching weather.
Sublogic has given a few good-quality releases and live-sets for local audiences. With this remix, the experienced creator adopted a so called "early 00's" approach from the digital dub era. His slow-paced and phased dubby chords and filtered percussiveness will probably take you back to the time of elegant and not overproduced digitalism.
Zoltan Solomon completed his remix from a contemporary point of view. Like on his plenty of other vinyl releases, the scenario here is truly similar: a dual state of sharp rhythmic movement and laid-back atmospheres give birth to the forms of present-day dubtechno. A direct, yet reserved presence of a club-consciousness, blurred out by strictly deep and muddy but tightly groove with the right amount of clicks and cuts on top.

Heavy, slow machines strike out from the traffic lights, a faded radio communication whispers across the streets in Budapest night… This is the time of the snowplows. András Hargitai aka Banyek drives us through this world with heavy epic, filtered chords and massive dub subs. A mixture of hiss and real radio recordings. This five and a half minute long composition, called ‘Hókotrók’ (Snow Baggers) hits your ears, and project the dark streets of Budapest, in a winter night.

This EP was recorded live and was based on my new time-maniuplation modules (Midi to Clock and Black VC Clock) kindly offered by Erica Synths. It also compresses the impressions of me seeing the Baltic sea for the first time in an enduring evening brightness.

If you make dub how it was meant to be, it is only versions of the one that coexist. You also tend to take elements in these versions back and forth in time. 

This EP was recorded live and was based on reempowering old recipes. Had I had the tools for the proper tones and grooves back then, I would have recorded my first dubtechno works just like this. These tracks also reflect on the buildings and spaces of Riga I got carried away with.

It is hard to talk about a healthy body - we just go on as if it wasn't there. My biology teacher said that a healthy person was not supposed to notice the beating of their heart. 

This EP was recorded live exploring the enriching results of chorus effects on polymetric minimal dub(techno) riddims. The consecutive versions are always richer, yet still incomplete and reduced. Here, I was even less afraid to show imperfections and audio dirt on the non-reverbarating sounds - just how I like the works of the old masters I grew up on. 

The nine takes were mostly dry which leaves room for further processing - I intended this as an EP for your dubs too.
