Fate's Grip

A dry simmer alt rock lab experiment disguised as a love panic. Deadpan delivery, pulsing synth bass, muted guitars, and clinical comedy swirl together while one very emotionally compromised test subject tries and fails to describe what a simple touch actually feels like.

It is awkward science. Accidental honesty. A hundred metaphors collapsing at once.
A nervous system waking up in real time.

Okay, so…
about what I said earlier.
The “rubbing a cut” thing.
I would like to formally submit
a better metaphor.

Initiating recap, try to keep this clinical,
words keep slipping, nothing stays minimal.
You asked me how it felt when you brushed that spot,
I panicked, said “like a cut,” which… no, it is not.

What I meant was more like nerves waking in a line,
old wires buzzing back to life at the same time.
Tender in a good way, too awake to hide,
like something half healed flickering inside.
Absolutely not. We are retiring the word “cut.”

It is that too bright feeling under brand new skin,
every gentle touch sends the whole signal in.
Hard to find the language when my thoughts derail,
every honest answer sounds like a medical fail.

I am trying to phrase this slowly.
It is not like a wound, it is more like a spark
running through a doorway in the dark.

Every time I talk, I cross the line,
but it is nerves lit up, not a cut this time.

Okay, imagine something raw but kind,
like all your nerves showed up on time.
Not broken, just loudly aligned,
a soft alarm running down my spine.

but the rush is warmth, not ache or trace.
If anyone asks, I am doing fine,
this is completely normal for a nervous system… mine.

So when I said “like a cut,” what I meant to say
was heightened sensory translation in a pleasant way.
Like brushing near a live wire wrapped in silk,
tiny lightning threaded through warm milk.

Maybe think of it like sun on fragile skin,
the first day out after winter ends again.
Too much and it stings, but just right, it is bliss,
that line you walked with that little after kiss.

It is that too much truth under every touch,
my body takes notes when you do too much.
Trying to stay objective, trying to stay precise,
but the data keeps arriving as heat instead of ice.

I swear I am explaining this slowly.
It is not like a wound, it is more like a glow
spreading out from where your fingers go.

Every time I speak, I blur the line,
but it is nerves in chorus, not a cut this time.

Okay, erase the cut, the wound, the bruise,
it is more like strings you somehow tune and use.
You pluck one note and the whole thing rings,
my spine composing while my mouth says things.

It is like my skin forgot the script,
and every pass of your hand ad libs.
If anyone asks, I am holding the line,
but my body keeps writing footnotes down my spine.

Let the record show
the cut metaphor is officially withdrawn.
Replaced with
heightened localized sensation
in an emotionally compromised subject.

Look…
it feels like every nerve under your hand
remembers it exists
all at once.
Like someone turned the volume up
on a place that was just humming quietly before.

It is not pain.
It is not damage.
It is too alive to ignore.

I will stop pretending this is only
science and charts and careful design
it is the way your touch rewires my mind.

there are no neat words for when you trace that line
