This is not a mind trip, This is a body journey. (Techno mix)

This mix is a slight departure from my usual ‘tried-and-tested’ format. I wanted to play with a steady 140 BPM throughout, letting melodic elements and sound textures control the flow. It features a blend of recent vinyl releases and some of my digital-only favourites found on bandcamp, as well as a track from the new label I’m starting (Intrepid Skin) and a track my friend Nikolaj exported the very same day I recorded this (Sugar - Dark Side Of The Spoon).

Tailgating SPFDJ is no easy task. Her sharp ascent is born of a taste for dynamics that approach and bank with ecstatic momentum. Occasionally working at vicious speeds, acidic techno climes are funnelled through kaleidoscopic wares from the wealth of high-energy
outposts found across dance music today.

Though hailing from Sweden, SPFDJ’s beginnings were in London as part of the infamous collective Universe of Tang, an ongoing club operation steeped in DIY means and mystifying aesthetics. Then a relocation to Berlin prompted a new chapter of projects and activity, and the chance to import her affiliations. With sprintf, she runs the Cranial Handles transmission as well as the System.out sound system. Power Play is the latest party coerced into life by SPFDJ, sprintf, and others.

Number 58 comes from Bassil, an emerging DJ from Tbilisi. Trained by residents of the legendary Bassiani club, whilst bringing a distinct style of his own, presents a flawless adventure through the depths of hypnotic techno.

Bassil has been listening to music since he can remember, joining a music school at the age of 8 and being educated on staple musicians of the time by his family. Several years ago he saw the adept Function play in his local club, Bassiani, where he discovered his love for electronic music.

Expect an interesting, complex atmosphere and for Bassil to present tell a real story over the next hour. Bassil also has some tracks of his own in the lab right now, and are expected to release soon.

Most known for the festival smasher ‘Fullbourn Haze’, released under his own name (George Lanham), The Sixteen Steps alias focusses on machine-driven downtempo electronics. Recently starting the tape Label In Disarray, including a split EP together with Autumns, and earlier releases on Veronicka Vasicka’s Cititrax, you’ll definitely hear a lot more from him this year.

@Electrorites, was born in Pordenone (Italy) in 1977. The rhythm of his father’s records was the background of his childhood; then things got serious when he found himself in front of his first consolle and an irrepressible musical passion took over.

Public acclaim came in 1994, when he won an international DJ competition organized by a well-known club in Udine, which, given the success of the young DJ, asked him to continue to perform. Around that time he became a member of the staff of Radio SuperNetwork, at first as a mixing desk technician and then with his own program in which he proposed the latest innovations of his genre. Meanwhile he continued to perform in clubs.
Experience led his style to evolve, from progressive to electronic, until he arrived at a techno sound, without however being chained to a particular genre, demonstrating rather a vocation for free and open musical inspiration, fed always and in any case by experimentation.

Unknown artist starts this fourth installment with a murky ambient track on A1 before delving into trippy xylophonic techno on A2 and finally going full out mental on A3. 
B1 starts with a more restrained cut - but that's just a ruse, you are in the eye of the storm- because B2 with it's frantic pace picks it up for a fitting brutal final of a well rounded, versatile techno record.

After releasing records on L.I.E.S, Jealous God, Semantica and his own label project Summa Cum Laude to name a few, Domenico Crisci quickly rose to prominence among purveyors of timeless techno. One of his earlier records on Jealous God cemented his reputation as a careful engineer of effective, hard, crafty dance floor cuts that comfortably sit next to early works of the genre’s pioneers. Domenico’s sets consist of an eclectic mix of acid, techno and electro with a non-conforming puristic approach.

Marek Nalikowski has been collecting records since 2009 and made his debut behind the decks in 2012. Since then he’s played in clubs around his native Poland, as well as run the now-defunct TUMULT event series. In 2015, together with his friend Abu Zeinah he formed the duo Feral Rite, anact focused on live performance and improvisation. In 2018 Marek joined the Behind The Stage collective. As a DJ he draws from a variety of styles, letting his intuition guide him based on hisown emotional response to the music.
