Around Spring 2024, after some years of playing trance, I came to realize that many of my favourite artists have a habit of releasing ambient productions from time to time. So I started collecting such works and putting them together in mixes. The idea was to gather all the emotional facets and colourful soundscapes of trance, but without the usual percussion. A somewhat experimental side quest at first, this soon accounted for at least half of my gigs and mixes. The more ambient sets I played, the more I understood and appreciated how ambient floors allow for different connections to music and to people. In August 2025, I got the chance to play an extended three-hour ambient set at Schwing & Stampf Festival in Switzerland, surrounded by beautiful mountainous nature. The set I played was the result of more than a year of searching for ambient works by trance producers. Almost all the tracks selected originated from the trance world in one way or another. Since I liked the idea of having a single summary of this ambient trance quest, in addition to separate shorter mixes along the way, I decided to reproduce the set as played on 29 August 2025. Here it is.

Originally from Korea and based in Berlin, @kaydthedj embodies the spirit of the electronic music aesthetician and researcher. His sonic explorations eventually led him to Switzerland… and, through countless messages, blossomed into a deep-rooted friendship with our team; a connection that began digitally has now materialized into real-world action and collaboration. We quickly understood that beyond the music, a shared philosophical outlook and a deep mental connection truly bonded us.

Today, Kay D shares a truly fabulous set, featuring a blend of hypnotic grooves and pure elements of Trance. This set is powerfully inspired by his recent trip across some legendary beaches of the Kingdom of Siam, where people from all walks of life have gathered for decades. Expect a journey that is high-energy and moving, featuring flawless mixing and sophisticated selection, and remaining contemporary yet profoundly timeless.
