"Hello everyone!
Thanks for tuning in. I really hope you enjoy this mix as much as I do. I know for me, especially throughout the pandemic, music has been my escapism, almost a therapy to help me navigate me through some shitty times and help focus on the positive. Even if just one of these tracks gets you moving, I'm happy.

With every mix I create I am trying to encompass the feelings of energy, sexiness, power, introspection and euphoria. You will notice I kick this mix off on an upbeat note with some loopy and groovy beats to really transport you into a sexy and sweaty club, dancing all your worries away. 'Chains and harnesses make up the hard armoured exterior that MARSH LONG
equips shortly before making her way onto stage. It is her way of tapping into
confidence and defiance that she otherwise feels distant from.

MARSH LONG’s a Melbourne born artist that has put her unique stamp of electronic music in every dance-floor she touches. Featuring performances across the Australian scene, she’s able to uplift events from @barbapresents, @hardwarepresentsau, @thickasthieves-1, @wearenovel and Melbourne Techno Collective.

In her performances, she incorporates concepts into the majority of her sets, this
being one of the defining reasons she sticks out from most of the artists you hear at the club. There is a constant thrive of driving beats that keeps your feet moving and your heart-beat flowing, her sets always takes you through a musical journey
creating a unique arc that leaves you feeling a different way to what you came with.

This stems from her love of music since a very young age, performing in orchestras around her hometown with classical piano and violin.
Through her exclusive brand Louder Than Words, MARSH LONG organises events
and curates monthly radio shows with the aim to bring people together through
high energy music. This platform is an extension of her passion, providing a platform for all forms of under-represented talent, a place to shine.
She speaks fondly about the Europe scene, a dreamscape that she one day aims to
find herself making music in. MARSH LONG has emphasised the point that she

Back in December 2023 @mezmonty joined us to celebrate the BARBA 'nueve' BDAY “Pulling much of his inspiration from the golden era of house music in New York and Chicago, Mez seamlessly weaves between classic and contemporary sounds. You can hear influences from the old guard through his smooth and long-form mixing style, using songs as tools to create sonic environments that feel fresh, but decidedly old-school.

In 2022, he launched his much anticipated Los Angeles based party series “Signal”, which aims to showcase and pay homage to the roots of black and queer dance music, while demonstrating the power music has to facilitate connection and freedom on the dance floor.”

MEZ has quickly become a regular at some of the best-known parties in LA, NYC, Brasil and now Australia, bringing a fresh but decidedly old-school vibe. He's a young selector who plays '90s house in a way that feels new and exciting and classic all at once—you can hear influences from the old guard in the smooth way he mixes and how long he lets the songs play out, but you can also imagine his excitement at hearing these old records for the first time and wanting to share them with everyone else. NYC based KIA (@daviejones_jr + @antwyone-ingram), while most certainly reflective of chaotic times, is a celebratory cauldron of sounds from BIPOC and Queer artists. It is an ode to ballroom, house, and the black and brown tastemakers that inhabit predominantly white techno spaces but are often overlooked, undermined or paid no mind. 

KIA represents sisterhood. She is your good Judy, your good GF, or the queen you KI with on the dance floor and you simply don’t know her name... so you toss her a “what’s good, KIA?” She knows she’s that girl, and you know it too, and you collectively “carry” to celebrate the occasion. 

BARBA wants to acknowledge everyone joining our #STAYHOMO campaign and supporting every fundraiser linked to each mixtape.

Laura King needs no introduction but in case this is your first time listening, her raved-up sets fuse together tribal techno, early trance and hard house. You will be surprised by each and every track she pulls out of her magic box of tunes and transported back to the sweaty dance floors we’re all missing this year.

"Hello friends :) 
This mix is made with the intent to have fun, make you dance and pump you up. Getting your body moving and blood flowing is so important for your mental health. 

I know that personally if I’m feeling down and I can’t find the motivation to get back on the track I want to be on, I pop on a wild fun techno mix and do some exercise! 
That really raises my vibration :) 

This year has been stagnate and uncertain and its really easy to lose faith when the wheels aren’t in motion and you’re not feeling a sense of accomplishment... BUT don’t lose sight of your dreams and goals in life! drive, ambition and working towards something we are passionate about keeps us happy and healthy!! 

SO put this mix on and get pumped about life my friends <3 I start things off with some old school ghetto house, into some off-centred tough numbers with futuristic sounds, then i build it up to my usual tribal, hard groove ravey vibe and end with a left field version of happy hard core/trance. 

Touching again on mental health, I just wanted to acknowledge that now more so than ever people are really struggling :( I’m sure we can all relate in one way or another!

STAYHOMO mixtape 010 ft. Laura King (FAST+QUIRKY)

Back in June 2019 we had the chance to throw our first BARBA party at TheStud in San Francisco. We've been missing this powerful city lately and that's why we needed some queer party love from @jump_r

As one of the founding members of Fog City Pack (@fogcitypack) and resident of San Francisco's monthly disco party, DAD SF (@dadpartysf), Joe Weidman (a.k.a. Jumpr) has spent the last several years striving to create unique, inclusive, exciting experiences for the SF queer and leather communities not just as a DJ but also as the Creative Director of Fog City Pack. He prides himself on being a dance floor filler, agnostic of genre, spinning everything from sweaty bathhouse disco to throbbing techno bangers. Jumpr wants to bring the rush and keep the energy ecstatic.

Shortly after San Francisco entered quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic back in March, Jumpr helped cofound the SF Bay Area Queer Nightlife Fund (@sfqueernightlifefund), which has to date raised over $300,000 for out of work queer nightlife workers affected by the crisis. Recognising the history of white supremacy and male cisgender privilege in queer communities, and acknowledging the immense contributions of black and brown people to dance music and club culture, the QNF aims to prioritise women, transgender, gender nonconforming, non-binary, and all queer Black, Indigenous, and people of colour through grants, resources, and performance opportunities.

I began working on this set while the Bay Area was gripped with smoke from the devastating wildfires that have been destroying California over the last few months. It was hard to focus my creative energy when at one point (on my birthday, no less!) the smoke was so thick the sky turned bright orange for a full day. It’s no secret the United States has been in a constant state of turmoil lately, and that energy definitely made its way into this mix. 

However, if there’s one thing that has kept me afloat during the last six months of lockdown, it’s been the beauty and resiliency of our queer community. And the knowledge that no matter how ugly the world around us becomes, we will continue to come together, support each other, and create beauty wherever we are. So I hope this music finds you well and leaves you with a sense of joy and positive energy for you to take forth and create a better world than the one we’re currently experiencing.

I will be raising money for The Transgender District, which is the first legally recognised transgender district in the world, located here in San Francisco. The mission of the Transgender District is to create an urban environment that fosters the rich history, culture, legacy, and empowerment of transgender people and its deep roots in the southeastern Tenderloin neighbourhood. 

The transgender district aims to stabilise and economically empower the transgender community through ownership of homes, businesses, historic and cultural sites, and safe community spaces.
