The Australian native and co-founder of mind expanding imprint Multi Culti began his voyage into production in the noughties as Gus Da Hoodrat, part of the party-starting Bang Gang crew. After a brief hiatus from music he returned as Dreems, and with that a more organic psychedelic approach to DJing and producing.

This deep natural approach is mirrored in how he runs Multi Culti with fellow DJ and friend, Thomas Von Party. Since starting the imprint in 2013, the pair have cultivated a striking visual and audio aesthetic, becoming flag-bearers for kaleidoscopic pan global sounds.

With roots from Taiwan and Japan, Yoshi Nori cut his teeth as a DJ in Chicago during early 2000s. While attending college there, Yoshi Nori is heavily influenced by Ron Hardy like raw Chicago house sound. Combined with Minimal side of neo-Detroit, Japan’s 80s disco, early 90s UK psychedelic rock and Taiwan’s early 2000 experimental punk movement shaped as foundation for his ever unpredictable DJ sets.

After 13 years of exploring the US, Yoshi Nori moved back to Taipei in 2006, stamping his unique music prints by moving the dance floors from Organik Festival, Pawnshop, Bangkok’s Karma Klique, Vietnam’s Savage + The Observatory, Tokyo’s Bonobo, Hong Kong’s Mihn, Singapore’s Outer Bounce & Berlin’s Buttons etc.

After organizing various types of events from 2006 to 2019, Yoshi Nori turns to another field in 2020, launching Taipei based label "
禁 Jin".

Additionally, he’s part of the curating team behind Bangkok's Siamese Twins.

Yoshi is also an avid cat slave, but lately has been addicted to Shiba dogs.

In celebration of Datcha's ten year anniversary, this set from resident curator Thomas Von Party brings together a host of influences that will be familiar to Montrealers, from his acid house and techno roots as Turbo Recordings A&R, to his taste for the psychedelic other exemplified with his label Multi Culti, the emphasis is on fun, freedom, freakiness. There's also a big nod to Mr. Quinn aka @oldwalkingman of Paranoid London and Decius fame, the artist who TVP credits as being his go-to producer and most played artist of the past decade of Datcha. Pt. 1 of this epic all-night set is up now, pt. 2 coming soooon.
