Angelia Word, under her expanded moniker, is an interdisciplinary artist and DJ. Inspired by 90s and 2000s hip hop and r&b, her artistry is heavily influenced by the rawness of lo-fi house and a propensity for the sinister. Her mixes hang in a delicate balance between the nostalgic, the goofy, her deep-seated anger and frustration at the systems of oppression that crush us, and desperation for a better future. Co-founder of Femmedecks, a collective and label that celebrates and empowers diverse artists with marginalized voices, Angelia has been praised for her work by Little Village Mag, The Gazette, KRUI, Press-Citizen and The Daily Iowan. She has been featured as a panelist, discussing ways that independent cultural spaces can support and enact intersectional justice work, and is currently studying Cultural Management & Arts Administration and Policy at School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her utmost goal is to shine a spotlight on up-and-coming artists that face challenges in the industry due to their gender, race and/or sexual orientation, and to construct inclusive spaces with high standards of safety for all artists and attendees.

"Creating this mix, I was brought back to why and how I fell in love with electronic music. It is the fastest mix I’ve ever made by far — spanning 148-170bpm. I’m still trying to find my voice as an artist, so many of my mixes are an exploration into what makes me move. But this mix in particular, I think, encapsulates the sounds that spark my fire — tracks that hit my heart and remind me why club music feels like home."

In this epic tale of swashbuckling adventure, @ponyobrln is a hard and fast femmebot who can dodge bullets using near instantaneous mathematical calculations. One day, she finds a magical CDJ that channels generations of vengeful bass. On a mission to destroy dancefloors all over the galaxy, she plugs it into a type F socket but realises its cheeky stomping power can only be harnessed if it is united with a second CDJ of equal power. Using a mysterious audio frequency, she is soon contacted by @he-duh, a well known disreputable pusspuss pirate, who informs her of how she ‘acquired’ the other vengeful CDJ form a notorious Swedish lama dealer. They soon realise that fast breaks would cause more fall out if they joined forces so they steal an old Soviet Vostock spherical reentry module, which they re-name @capsule-berlin and use it simultaneously as a streaming platform and a spacecraft containing attitude control thrusters and a retro rocket for dance floor termination. Currently in flight, PONYO and He duh will enter Mega Buff’s atmosphere on Wednesday 1st March at 8pm to deliver some ruff ’n’ tuff b2b multi vengeful pirate femmebot madness.
