Its one of my favorite songs from the movie Jodha Akbar by Ashutosh Gowarikar.
It was picturised by depicting the moments of 'limerence' between the newly wed King Akbar
and Jodha. You will notice the brilliance in the way Ashutosh tried to keep a coherent parallel
between the scene and the musical score by the genius Mozart of Madras ( A R Rahman).
In my opinion the key element behind this 'parallel' is the train of episodes of silence the newly
wed couple would exchange between each other; the aimable distance they both maintained
with each other with an easily noticeable telepathy constantly happening between them in the admiring 'stares'
and glances from the corner of their eyes.
The moment where narration or dialogues would maim the beauty of the chemistry
and instead the timbre and soundscape of 'Jashn-e-Bahara' is used which uplifts and celebrates
the moment- an undermined genius of both Ashutosh and A R Rahman. Both these personalities
are undoubtedly talented but I believe that this song and the picturisation is a witness of their
prowess in creative expression.
I adopted the Carnatic style of guitar work to accommodate both limerence and divinity
to equate the perspective of the Mughal Empire days 
and the modern outlook on healthy 'courtship' and inter-faith marriage.
I experimented with this song because for a long time since my childhood days listening to A R on my 
neighbour's radio; I was desperately wanting to delve into the head of this musical genius.
Using an instrument like the guitar to cover this song indeed invited technical difficulties just in 
the sheer anticipation of it but the pursuit to match the dexterity and capture the emotional spark
in Naveen Kumar's rendition on the flute was too tempting. In toto it was an interesting and at the same time a gratifying experience 
to emulate both Naveen Kumar's flamboyance and A R Rahman's remarkable elan in composing music 
that not just resonates with the characters' emotional state but also leaves the listener in an inertia with
an edifying spiritual tinge that is the salt of all his famous compositions.
